Eaton Corporation Senior Manufacturing Engineer-Plastics in Williamsport, Maryland

Eaton’s Industrial Plastics Division is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer-Plastics. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer-Plastics will be based in Williamsport, MD.

Positon Overview:

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer-Plastics will be responsible for coordinating the efforts of the engineering department in the design, fabrication and development of new production and fabrication tooling; repair and maintenance thereof. Represent the department with internal and external customers; and suppliers. Develop quotations for pricing of all products manufactured at the plant. Direct the purchase of new processing and/or machining equipment. Manage the CAD program, responsible for the development and release of product drawings, revision and appropriate Engineering Change Notices. As well as taking on OPEX (Operational Excellence).

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Lead and engineering team of toolmakers, using Eaton’s PROLaunch Program Management system to take new products from design to market with speed and accuracy, with the goal of “Delighting the Customer”.

  • Initiate and drive appropriate Kaizen activities.

  • Manage direct personnel development including performance reviews, training and development plans, via Eaton’s APEX-Mfg process. Accurately assess and utilize the capabilities of the engineering team, positively motivating team members to succeed.

  • Continuously monitor, measure and improve responsible metrics.

  • Participate/Contribute to all plant processes: QOS, ELSS, EBS, BSC, MESH, etc.

  • Champion responsible areas for ISO & EBE audits.

  • Review and approve specifications, design, developmental trials and technical reports.

  • Utilize broad base of knowledge to rapidly and efficiently design, develop, test, maintain and continuously improve products, processes: the quality and reliability thereof.

  • Support all plant objectives, and follow Eaton operating standards.

  • Facilitate BPIs and CIs.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university.

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a Manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience leading a team.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience with plastics.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience with CAD.

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a Manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 1 year experience with Common Area Maintenance (CAM)/Coding.

  • Management experience.

  • Experience in plastic processing, preferable extrusion.

  • Experience in Machine Trades, including Wire EDM.

  • Experience in Quality Systems, Lean Manufacturing, 8-D Problem-Solving, and Corrective Action disciplines.

  • Six Sigma Certified.

  • Strong working knowledge of plastic materials; properties/applications
