The essential function of this position will be to support the design and development of Screw-in Cartridge Valve products and provide engineering support to existing products.
The main job duties will include:
Develop new products or revisions to existing products to meet market needs, profitability goals, reliability requirements and manufacturing capability in accordance with standard development practices.
Perform and document design calculations, generate CAD layouts, and verify all necessary tolerance stack-ups for new designs and design revisions.
Conduct product design reviews with cross functional teams, which will include DFMEA reviews, product specification reviews and overall assessments of risk throughout the development process.
Maintain close liaison with the manufacturing function and supply chain across multiple product lines during the development and introduction of new products to assure manufacturability, cost effectiveness and reliability of the product.
Maintain close liaison with the sales and marketing functions across multiple product lines, as well as end customers, as related to application reviews, new product requirements, and customer prototype qualification test requirements.
Initiate and execute project plans, which include the scheduled actions and the resources required to meet the project objectives.
Communicate new product development project status to various levels of leadership
Write effective test requests for technicians to execute. Analyze results and clearly summarize the findings in technical reports.
The incumbent may be the lead engineer on one or more major projects, or several minor projects, with a total estimated budget of $450,000 per year. Metrics for these projects include adherence to published schedules, budgeted versus actual spending, and performance relative to the design specifications.
The position for Senior Product Engineer is that of a product line expert at the Hydraulics Division. It is expected that the incumbent should demonstrate their proficiency as a Senior Product Engineer for a sufficient period of time to adequately evaluate the incumbent, whether they have the desire and are better suited for future supervisory/administrative duties, or to specialize in a certain technical discipline, or to become an engineering product specialist
Specialist knowledge Required
Must have 2 years of relevant work experience in the engineering function
Bachelors of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
Preferred qualifications but not essential
Experience with hydraulic systems and components
Experience with manufacturing processes
Project management experience
Experience working with global cultures
Familiarity with DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) tools
Excellent problem solving skills
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Hands on experience with hydraulics
Strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude
Experience working with customers
