Eaton Corporation Regional HR Manager- Africa in Wadeville, South Africa
The primary function or overall purpose of your position.
To manage and coordinate all activities related to HR for the one EATON campus in Wadeville composed predominantly of the Eaton Electrical Sector Sales, Services and Emerging Markets organization in addition to HYDRAULICS and TRUCK. The role covers South Africa, Morocco, Nigeria, Kenya and may grow to other countries in the region as we grow our footprint.
This role also acts as the Country HRM for South Africa which is our largest location in the Africa region. Responsibilities includes execution of: the Talent management strategy defined at the regional level and locally for specific target groups, employee development defined regionally and locally, compensation strategy defined by COE with local input, employee and industrial relations defined locally, HR and organizational change management, Restructuring, Negotiations with internal and external Union reps/officials as needed.. Acts as a key business partner for the Regional GM/MD, Regional HR Director, Regional Sales Manager and HR team within the region. Together with the local HR team is also the HRBP for the HYD/TRUCKs division locally.
Acts as business partner, strategic solution provider, advisor and counselor for the leadership team and the regional Africa team.
Designs and implements appropriate HR strategy to support the region’s continued growth.
Understands the business strategies and identifies opportunities to improve organizational capability. Drive culture change to align the organization with the strategy. Diagnose gaps between current and desired and deploy actions to resolve the gap.
Develops and drives BBBEE agenda to ensure Eaton’s competitive position in driving business growth.
Ensures organizational practices align with the Eaton philosophy.
Assesses and select top talent in a timely manner, partnering with Talent acquisition and hiring managers.
Drives performance management practices to raise the performance bar.
Designs and executes restructuring plans according to company guidance.
Provide advanced coaching, consulting and facilitation to functional leaders. Provide guidance and direction on complex business and HR issues.
Advocate employee communication processes that inform employees and ensures meaningful two way communication.
Administer compensation programs to assure competitive pay practices through systems that reward superior employee performance whilst working within the framework required by local employment law
Integrate and support all Eaton established processes, such as organizational development, employee surveys, Eaton Philosophy at Work Practices, APEX.
Partners with the rest of the HR organization to implement standardized global HR processes.
Ensure that all sites are in compliance with legal requirements and with Eaton programs and policies.
Manages and develops the regional HR team to ensure high quality service delivery whilst optimizing the use of resources.
Ideally - Masters University degree, preferably business related
Demonstrated, solid knowledge of South African and other African county labor laws and collective organizational practices; solid functional HR knowledge with focus on policy and process formulation
Experience in managing BBBEE process with top results
Proven track record of achieving business success with unions and bargaining councils
Proven performer in an significant HR management role in large company
Experience in business transition (upsizing or downsizing) and change management essential
Must be fluent in English and any other South African language, including verbal and written business language ability.
Ability to effectively communicate ideas and thoughts to people at all levels of the organization.
A minimum 10 years’ HR experience – preferably in an operational position
