Senior Engineer – Sustaining and Testing - Motors

Your key deliverables:

· Eaton Ltd. (Aerospace) in Titchfield, Hampshire currently has an opportunity for a Senior Engineer for the Motors Centre of Excellence (CoE) team, to undertake the role of a Project Engineer. Knowledge of manufacturing processes for electrical machines (Induction, Brushed, Brushless DC motors and transformers) and associated controllers are important to the role. An understanding of machine design and construction principles is desirable, but not essential. Knowledge and experience of Electrical testing is highly desirable and will be required on occasions, as part of the Sustaining function.

· Excellent organizational & communication skills are vital as the role will require working on multiple tasks and products, simultaneously, primarily in a product support role. This will require communicating across multiple levels within the organization, with colleagues from a variety of functions and locations.

· Opportunity will be provided to develop machine design and analysis skills, therefore a thirst for knowledge and eagerness to progress into other roles would be a welcome attribute, although candidates with a desire to develop further within the confines of the Sustaining role, will be equally welcome.

· Primary function of this role is to support both the manufacturing and Customer Support teams to ensure that any issues relating to product manufacture and returns investigation (motors, transformers and actuators manufactured at the Titchfield and South Molton sites) are resolved in a methodical & responsive manner. Other responsibilities include: preparation of Qualification Test Procedures & Similarity Reports, Process and Material Specifications relating to all products that fall under Motors CoE’s responsibility & conducting failure and root cause analysis and associated investigations .

· In addition to in-service products, the role’s remit also includes being the primary liaison between the Design Engineers and Manufacturing Engineers for new products; engagement with all relevant functions will be required from the onset of design activity.

· Accountability includes timely support to Engineering & Manufacturing functions, on issues deemed detrimental to production schedules.

· Knowledge of aerospace and OEM customer practices and regulations is desirable, but not essential.

· Typical products include electric motors, actuators, solenoids and transformers for a variety of civil & military aerospace applications.

· This is a senior position within a small, highly motivated technical team supporting the larger Engineering and Manufacturing departments. Due to the relatively small size of the team, there will be a need to be flexible in supporting other team members, on occasions; this will predominantly be, as a test engineer.
