Eaton Corporation Operations Coordinator - Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence in Southfield, Michigan
Eaton’s Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE) is currently seeking an Operations Coordinator for our Southfield MI facility.
The Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence (AM CoE) of Eaton has an exciting opportunity for an Operations Coordinator who is passionate about Additive Manufacturing (3D Printing) technologies. Launched in July 2016 within Eaton’s Southfield Innovation Center, the AM CoE has an aggressive plan to commercialize 3D printed products for Aerospace and other applications. Plans are underway to get the facility ready for Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP) of these applications. The Operations Coordinator will play an integral role ensuring efficient operations of AM CoE while the scale-up is underway and beyond, and thus, will have the unique opportunity to shape the future of Eaton’s efforts in Additive Manufacturing.
The Operations Coordinator – Additive Manufacturing Center of Excellence will be responsible for supporting the daily operations of the CoE. This position requires a customer-focused attitude with a sense of urgency, attention to detail, and learning orientation. This position is expected to perform in a dynamic, safe, collaborative environment with cross-functional teams, researchers, engineers and customers across Eaton. The CoE houses an array of metal and polymer 3D printing equipment and supports businesses across Eaton for a variety of needs ranging from rapid prototyping to the development of flight critical Aerospace components. The Operations Coordinator will ensure the efficient and effective execution of business processes in AM CoE to serve these needs.
The position reports to the AM CoE Operations Lead, and will be an integral member of the AM CoE operating team. He/she will have extensive support network from Corporate Research & Technology, Aerospace Additive Manufacturing Application development Integrated Product Teams and other business unit teams active in Additive Manufacturing across Eaton.

Assists in the estimation of the cost and lead time for services requested from the CoE
Assists in the build file preparation for the 3D printers, while utilizing the appropriate CAD/CAM software (e.g., Magics, Solidworks, Mastercam)
Responsible for materials management (e.g., procurement, inventory). Responsible for receiving in metal powder used in additive manufacturing, performing incoming quality assurance tests, and managing powder inventory
Maintains the documentation associated with the builds across the entire work flow starting from the request to shipment of parts
Coordinates the shipment of the printed parts, including expediting as needed to meet customer requirements
Assembles the data needed for billing the customers
Implements tracking mechanisms to ensure adherence to P/M activities, and the service documentation
Cross-trains on equipment in AM CoE to serve as a back-up resource to operate the equipment as needed, to ensure business continuity
Maintains operational metrics for AM CoE operations; identifies opportunities for improvement

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum 1 year of hands-on experience in 3D printing
No relocation is being offered for this position. Only candidates residing within a 50 mile radius of Southfield, MI will be considered.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future
This position requires us of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred Qualifications: (Not required to be qualified for the role)
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum 1 year of experience with CAD/CAM software packages used in 3D printing
1 year of industrial and/or manufacturing experience
