Eaton Corporation Senior Sourcing Engineer- Aerospace in Shanghai Shi, China

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

Manage the strategic coordination of regional sourcing and supplier quality activities, including developing commodity sourcing strategies, leading supplier selection and development activities, and establishing purchase contracts governing assigned commodities. Emphasis is on selection and management of vendors so as to provide Eaton Aerospace with the highest levels of quality at the lowest landed cost while insuring adequate capacity, on-time delivery, and commitment to continuous improvement. The scope includes supporting current products as well as new product development. This position will work closely with Eaton Aerospace operations team to assure that all FAI’s are implemented on time and that suppliers are held accountable for performance and necessary development actions are taken. This position will ensure attainment of Eaton Aerospace operations material profit plan objectives and drive continuous improvement of China supply base.

This position reports directly to Aerospace Regional Supply Chain Manager for China. This position is expected to leverage the Eaton Business System and leverage standard work sanctioned by Aerospace.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

A. Develop regional commodity strategy for required commodities. This includes development of supplier classifications based upon standard rating process, five year road maps to successful execution of strategy, including capital required, cost out, inflation, currency and risk. B. Evaluate social, economic, and governmental information to determine the risks and opportunities regarding global sourcing (i.e., tariffs, dumping duties, exchange rates, etc.). C. Locate and develop new suppliers to improve the capability of Eaton’s supply base. Recommend supplier selection for material/component requirements. Ensure that new suppliers are in compliance with all the elements of the relationship framework such as terms and conditions, wisper, insurance etc. D. Complete negotiations with suppliers regarding price, terms, quality, tooling, etc. Develop and negotiate supply agreements when needed. Validate quotations and understand cost drivers E. Participate in the activities (i.e. APQP, FAI, supplier approval process, specification/print development when necessary, trials, etc.) during supplier start-up. Coordinate cost estimating and design parameters for new projects and products. F. Develop and maintain on-going ethical supplier relationships, which foster a desire to furnish new ideas, and promote cooperation with Eaton on an on-going basis. G. Coordinate the exchange of technical information regarding product and product processing with adequate safeguards for confidentiality. H. Negotiate resolution (as required) of Eaton claims (i.e., cost, time, rework, scrap, labor, sorting charges) with suppliers regarding non-conforming material. I. Actively participate in teams working towards continuous process improvements, elimination of waste, simultaneous engineering, and advanced product quality planning. J. Comply with Eaton standardize SCM process and policies both locally and at the corporate level. Locate and develop new suppliers to improve the capability of Eaton’s supply base.
