Here’s what you will do:

This position is responsible for leading the execution and deployment of the Manufacturing and Project Engineer Team in conjunction with plant leadership for Eaton Vehicle operations in Queretaro, Mexico.

Recommend & support activities to ensure the effectiveness & productivity of the plant through effective management of all Manufacturing Engineering and Launch Management support activity and to pursuit New Sales Grow business as leader and responsible for functional areas to provide innovative and expedited customer support solutions and at the same time achieve the goals of our company.

Functions:

  • Work closely with Site Leadership Team and product and NPD transition teams

  • Manage key initiatives for the plant and utilize EBS to achieve plant goals (High-5). Implement ELSS tools such as Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Error Proofing, Continuous Flow, Setup Reduction, 5-S, etc.

  • Assist in implementing workable production cells within the plant to meet customer requirements and add value to the plant; train supervisors & operators as required when we implement new products / processes. Ensure process flow and layout optimization for operations.

  • Manage engineering, capital (Capex and Decap as co-responsible) and tooling budgets, providing resources in a timely, cost effective manner. Report project status and operations performance. Develop, monitor & report status of actual costs VS budget targets

  • Manage new product introduction costing and direct PROLaunch processes as needed for new program launches.

  • Champion to implement programs related to continuous quality improvement, cost out and delivery performance, including Error Proofing to improve quality performance

  • Provide appropriate tooling management system to support the manufacturing areas

  • Identify opportunities for standardization of processes, procedures and/or equipment within the plant

  • Act as lead for eliminating all points of rework within the plant and improvements of processes to meet financial goals of the plant (Core Tools)

  • Implement divisional and regional engineering initiatives (capacity utilization improvement)

  • Actively participate in business review process including corrective actions to make an immediate impact to business results (Problem Solving Approach)

  • Manage performance and provide career development opportunities for employees within the Manufacturing Engineering function

  • Comply with requirements of the Environmental and Quality Management Systems while co-responsible to lead and support the MESH processes and develops short-term and long-term goals for EHS risk management at the plant.

  • Design, develop, implement, and improve safe and environmentally responsible manufacturing processes utilizing Eaton’s MESH and industry standard practices

  • Manage the Prototype room to develop this as a business center and capable to share the lessons towards to production environment

  • Act as leader and supervise the Cost Estimation process and key outputs thru Cost Model approval.

  • Responsible to lead and supervise the Industrial Engineering approach and status while assessing the number of head count is needed based on capacity utilization VS customer orders

  • Active participant to coordinate the Team engagement (Account Mgr.; Product Eng.; and Application Eng.) looking for growth sales opportunities and responsible to report progress status to the Senior Leadership Management.

Qualifications

Here’s what you need:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Engineering degree (Mechanical/ Metallurgical /Industrial)

  • Bi-lingual Spanish/English required

  • 5 + years’ experience in a supervisory or management position within a manufacturing environment (preferably Automotive)

  • Ability to conceptualize solutions to problems, develop teams to solve problems, acquire resources and see projects through to completion

  • Solid communication skills to communicate ideas, recommendations and requests in a clear and concise manner to all levels within and outside the company (in writing and verbally)

  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, report on progress regularly and manage time and teams

  • Advanced knowledge of machine tools, design techniques, manufacturing processes, document control and basic engineering methods

  • Preferable Advanced knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems

  • General knowledge of electric codes, safety and environmental requirements

  • Experience Lean and Six Sigma

  • Demonstrated experience in project and time management, organizational, and analytical skills.
