Eaton Corporation Test Lab Technician (2nd Shift) in Rumford, Rhode Island
Eaton’s Aerospace division is currently seeking a Test Lab Technician (2nd Shift) to join our team. This position is based at our Rumford, RI facility.
The Test Lab Technician is responsible for operations consisting of assembling mechanical, electrical and electronic test components, instrumentation calibration, checking assemblies to specifications, recording test results using manual and/or computerized data acquisition systems, operating test equipment under a range of conditions including high speed, high pressure and high temperature. In this role, you will set up and operate manual and or CNC machine shop equipment but not limited to engine lathes, milling machines, ovens and a variety of hand tools to manufacture or modify seals or test rig components prior to testing. Assemble and disassemble seals and test rigs.

You will install plumbing using pipe up to three (3) inch diameter, making connections to elbows, tees, valves, regulators, pumps, manifolds, flow meters etc. and install copper or stainless tubing sizes limited to 1.5 diameter.
You will identify continuous improvement opportunities including test rig upgrades, process changes, as well as cost savings and safety recommendations and report them to the lab or engineering manager.
You will report defective materials, safety issues, difficulties or unusual conditions to group leader and or supervisor, maintain work area and test cells per Eaton Lean System (ELS) 5S.
You will be required to understand the basic. Knowledge of basic computer programs such as Microsoft Excel and Word. Edit and/or modify specific data acquisition programs such as Lab View used to collect test rig & seal data to ensure proper data acquisition collection and test rig control. Up load and down load software and data files to computers and external drives.
You will work from prints, specifications, sketches and/or verbal instructions to prepare seals or other components for potential new product testing, assemble and test a variety of seals in dynamic test rig spindles, static rigs, Instron and vibration shaker table.
You will work with test and design engineers to resolve test rig solutions to conduct tests in accordance with engineering and customer test program requirements.
You will use state of the art measuring machines such as CMM, Micro-V, Zeiss and Federal circular measuring systems, micrometers and Vernier’s to measure test seals and mating rings.

Basic (Required) Qualifications
Must have a two year technical degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of one to three (3) years laboratory experience OR a high school diploma or GED from an accredited institution and a minimum of four years lab experience in an industrial lab setting.

No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area (50 miles) of the Rumford, RI facility will be considered.
