Eaton Corporation Service Application Engineer in Houston, Texas

Eaton’s Electrical and Engineering Services division is hiring for a Service Application Engineer. This position will be based out of Houston, TX.

Position Overview:

This position primarily supports proposal needs for medium, large and/or complex projects pertaining to Eaton related services and solutions.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Support service proposals locally and requests from other regions

  • Track and provide monthly reporting of proposal activities

  • Actively support Division Initiatives (Start-up Attachment Orders for New Equipment, power system studies, automation solutions, Aftermarket Solutions, Extended Warranty Program)

  • Respond to requests from Sales, Utility & Other Reps and Channel Partners

  • Support pricing development and technical & commercial proposal writing

  • Provide unique solutions beyond the standard specifications to provide greater customer value

  • Support complex proposals related to large turnkey projects.

  • Offer detailed project specification analysis, construction estimating and equipment specifications

  • Support contracts terms and conditions review

  • Support subcontractor work scope development

  • Support and mentor junior team members

  • Lead and support project detailed hand-off and capture "extras" on projects which were beyond the original specifications

  • Contribute to the standardized proposals templates and support with the development of other tools to improve group proposal efficiency

  • Attend and lead customer presentations via joint customer visits with sales channels

  • Help educate and promote Eaton capabilities including turnkey / complex project

  • Provide support to Eaton equipment application engineers in an efforts to influence customer and consultation specifications, distributing of Eaton Standard Specifications to Consultants and End-Users

  • Help continuous EESS growth, regularly supporting sales leads from other Channel and other areas outside of the normal region

  • Support the electronic pricing tool improvements, Local Training and help to expand local usage

  • Visit job sites with other Eaton field service personnel to enhance understanding of Eaton products and field activities.

  • Continue to be involved in personal professional growth and development

  • Occasionally work evenings and weekends to satisfy bid-due-dates


Basic Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree (Electrical Preferred) or Business Degree from an accredited institution with Engineering/Technical Experience

  • 7 years minimum electrical industry related application engineering and proposal development experience with additional experience in electrical power systems and/or industrial and utility substation construction.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without any company sponsorship.

  • No relocation assistance will be provided. Candidate must reside within 50 mile radius.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Professional Engineer registration.

  • Experience with proposal development in both private sector and government bids.

  • Experience with proposal development for all of Eaton's end markets (Industrial, Commercial, Healthcare, Utility, Institutional and Government).

  • Experience in writing and reviewing subcontractor work scopes and Subcontractor agreements; preferred experience with GSA purchasing procedures; being able to evaluate proposals for specification compliance.

  • Experience with risk evaluation and risk management.

  • Estimating experience in substation and electrical system installations.
