Eaton Corporation Project Mechanical Engineer, Secondary Flight Controls in Grand Rapids, Michigan
Eaton’s Fuel and Motion Control Systems division is currently seeking a Project Mechanical Engineer, Secondary Flight Controls to join our team. This position is based at our Grand Rapids, MI facility.
The Project Mechanical Engineer, Secondary Flight Controls is responsible for support for the new product development of aerospace electro-mechanical actuation products from proposal through initial production. In this role, you will provide mechanical design concepts and detailed design and analysis for new products.

You will contribute to the growth of Eaton Actuation Systems Division through participation and contribution to process improvements, team activities, and goals.
You will establish a conceptual approach with the assistance of the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer and complete Engineering layouts and parts lists meeting schedule and budget goals.
You will prepare proposal drawings as required under the supervision of the Lead Mechanical Engineer
You will perform a variety of design and engineering calculations generally involving the application of standard mathematical formulas or available data, deriving formulas for solution of engineering problems
You will design and direct testing of development concepts and participate in preparation of general test procedures and specifications in conjunction with engineering assignments
You will advise laboratory personnel relative to equipment operation specifications, test requirements and procedures, etc., and assist in evaluation of test results to determine equipment design and material modification requirements with the support of the Lead Mechanical Design Engineer
You will participate in the preparation of engineering proposals by compiling, preparing, and/or providing technical data

Required (Basic) Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in engineering
Minimum of one (1) year of design experience
Relocation assistance is not available for this position. Only candidates currently located within a 50 mile radius of Grand Rapids, MI, will be considered.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee
Masters of Business Administration or Masters’ of Engineering from an accredited institution
Five (5) years of engineering experience
Experience with mechanical engineering analyses (performance, stress, tolerance) and associated tools
Experience creating models and drawings using Pro/E, Catia, etc.
Experience translating technical guidelines from management into usable data applicable to the particular engineering assignment – evaluation, originality, and/or ingenuity needed
