Eaton Corporation Engineering Manager-Reliability, Maintainability and Safety (RMS) in Glenolden, Pennsylvania

Eaton’s Aerospace Division is seeking an Engineering Manager-Reliability, Maintainability and Safety (RMS). The Engineering Manager-Reliability, Maintainability and Safety (RMS) will be based at an Aerospace facility or Galesburg, MI; Eden Prairie, MN; Southfield, MI; Marshall, MI; OR Moon township, PA.

Positon Overview:

The Engineering Manager-Reliability, Maintainability and Safety (RMS) will be responsible for driving robust design and Design for Reliability practices into product development as well as leading certification compliance for all Aerospace programs globally. The Aerospace RMS team is part of a broader RMS organization whose support includes Aerospace, Vehicle, and Hydraulic business groups. This position leads a diverse and global team of engineers responsible for reliability, maintainability, and safety certification guidance (Civil & Military) to all Aerospace programs, products, and systems from project initiation to final certification. This position is responsible for all RMS efforts and activities across Eaton’s Aerospace group necessary to meet program requirements.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Bid and proposal support.

  • Reliability analyses and planning, including mission reliability requirements, reliability modeling, reliability program plans, and warranty guarantees.

  • Leadership of risk management activities including P-diagrams, DFMEA’s, analysis plans, validation plans, and control plans.

  • Provide tactical and strategic direction of reliability, maintainability and functional safety functions for Eaton’s Aerospace Group. Also contributes to the tactical and strategic direction of the Sector RMS team, including sharing and adoption of best practices.

  • Provide leadership and guidance in the area of Design for Reliability and Design for Six Sigma.

  • Develop world class organizational capability, development processes, and tools.

  • Drive bottom line impact by influencing product development efforts towards robust design principles and practices.

  • Drive top line growth from the use of analytics for the aftermarket and service markets.

  • Collaborate with all of Eaton to establish and direct organizational capability development in the RMS field.

  • Participate in strategic planning for the Industrial Sector.

  • Direct technical proposals for in-house and external customers.

  • Manage organization of global engineering teams, including talent assessment, talent development, and succession planning.

  • Develop and qualify strategic partners and resources.

  • Provide senior technical oversight.

  • Oversees development of technology roadmap.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of 8 years of in Aerospace, Hydraulics or Vehicle Engineering experience.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated leadership in past work, either thru formal management roles or in a leadership position as an individual contributor.

  • Ability to work in a matrix environment, get results and drive change through others.

  • Ability to manage by influence through solid relationships.

  • Provide functional and process focus across a global organization.

  • Ability to effectively present results and recommendations to senior-level leadership and customer management is important.

Position Criteria:

  • Willing to travel up to 25% of the time.

  • Knowledge of the Aerospace industry, OEM’s, and end-users.

  • Technical knowledge of aerospace fuel systems, power transfer systems, and hydraulic systems.

  • Understanding of aircraft operation principles and aircraft systems design, mechanical, electrical and software engineering principles and terminology.

  • Understanding of relevant industry standards and guidelines, such as RTCA/DO-178B, RTCA/DO-254, RTCA/DO-160, and ARP4754A.

  • Knowledge of Design for Reliability and Design for Six Sigma principles and have demonstrated their ability to effectively influence project or program teams.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills.
