Eaton Corporation Senior Electrical Engineer in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

Eaton’s Hydraulics division is currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team. This position is based at our Eden Prairie MN facility.

Eaton Corporation has an opening in the Industrial Sector Software and Electronics CoE for a Senior Electrical Engineer. The primary function of this role is the development and application of electronic controls for hydraulic control systems. This individual will deliver solutions in accordance to system specification in challenging technical environments.

In this function you will:

  • Demonstrates the application of basic engineering tools/principles, gives evidence of creative thinking and is efficient creating schematics, basic electronic design, test methods and electronics measurement

  • Demonstrates application of basic project management tools/principles (examples: action items; project plan; team meetings; project tracking; basic risk identification)

  • Serves individually and within a team to develop and select concepts for the realization of electronic designs in new product development

  • Evaluates present and new technology for sensors, actuators and other electronic products

  • Integrates electronic components into electronic subsystems in collaboration with the product systems engineers

  • Develops detailed engineering materials including block diagrams, schematics, component drawings, specifications, manuals and other customer documentation, develops test procedures and writes Engineering Change Notices

  • Executes requirements analysis, develops hardware functional and performance specifications, does design analysis, supplier management, product integration, testing, and validation of components used in embedded real-time control systems

  • Serves on a team to determine root cause of component failures using team oriented problem solving methods

  • Implements reliability analysis and risk management of electrical subsystem and components using tools such as Failure Mode & Effects Analysis, Fault Tree Analysis, and Failure Reporting & Corrective Action

  • Coordinates with suppliers, internal laboratories to ensure the successful completion of product development and validation testing

  • Serves on a team to identify process improvements, product cost reductions, and reliability improvements

  • Operates as a team member in technical project planning and management from concept phase through production release

  • As an electronic hardware engineer has a basic understanding of software (examples: firmware, user interfaces, software loading, testing requirements)

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science, Engineering (BSEE, BSME, BSCS), or related from an accredited university.

  • 2+ year of experience with control or embedded systems applications or relevant engineering discipline.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within a 50 mile radius of Eden Prairie MN will be considered

Preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree Electrical Engineering or Computer Science preferred

  • Experience with electronic controls, PID control algorithms and analog and digital

  • Experience with solenoid PWM and current control

  • Analog sensor conditioning experience

  • Experience with industrial communication protocols (Ethernet, CANbus, J1939, CANopen)

  • DFSS, Six Sigma

  • Microcontroller hardware experience
