Eaton Corporation Regional Quality Manager in Eden Prairie, Minnesota

Eaton’s Hydraulics division is seeking a Regional Quality Manager.

The Regional Quality Manager is responsible for:

Developing and deploying the Quality strategy for a subset of the Hydraulics Americas Region, supporting the implementation of global Hydraulics and Industrial Sector Quality programs and goals. This includes deploying Industrial Sector and Hydraulics Quality objectives at the operational level and providing overall Quality leadership to the Hydraulics Americas organization. Drive continuous improvement efforts through Quarterly Quality Functional Reviews, the deployment of the Eaton Quality System and Self-Assessment, Balanced Scorecard (EPM), and other quality tools including Six Sigma. Provide support in Total Quality to customers, suppliers, partners and the support service functions of the organization. This position has responsibility for Quality at multiple sites and drives the alignment of all related activities within a subset of the overall region. Other responsibilities include maintaining certification to required industry and customer standards, driving improvement in Quality performance, managing the effectiveness of the customer complaint process and supporting Industrial Sector and global Hydraulics Quality programs and goals.

In this role you will:

  • Lead the development and deployment of the Quality strategy for a subset of the Hydraulics Americas Region, ensuring alignment with Global Hydraulics Group.

  • Ensure Hydraulics Americas plants comply with applicable Eaton, customer and industry-specific Quality requirements by conducting the necessary audits and assessments and determine system effectiveness.

  • Develop and implement a Quality organizational structure capable of supporting the strategic initiatives and lead the efforts to integrate quality into the development of short and long range business plans.

  • Manage the development, implementation, and use of the Balanced Scorecard tool to all levels of the organization (Region and Plant).

  • Analyze key quality-related operational metrics related to both the Eaton Balanced Scorecard and customer systems and perform periodical reviews to evaluate results and establish action plans to close the gaps at an operational level.

  • Manage the implementation of 6-Sigma in accordance to Corporate and Group guidelines.

  • Lead the sharing of best / transferable practices across the Region for the Quality function.

  • Continually improve the capability of the Quality organization through ongoing development activities and identification of talent to promote functional bench strength. Ensures deployment of Eaton’s quality functional excellence tool set and provides input to development plans for functional reports.

  • Champion the Eaton Quality System (EQS). Identify and lead initiatives across the organization to address common barriers for the plants and enable improvement in effectiveness and efficiency of EQS. Responsible for overseeing utilization of EQS to control and improve key regional quality processes and plants.

  • Support the Operations Assessment (OpA) process as a Lead Assessor for Quality and represent the Quality Function in the OpA Leadership Review (OpA-LR) process for a subset of the Americas Region and identify common themes and actions.

  • Lead quarterly Quality functional reviews with specific focus on EQS self-assessment effectiveness and maturity, corrective and preventive actions, timely closure of actions, and other items as required.

  • Overall ownership of the Quality Alert and Escape Management process for a subset of the Americas Region plants. Ensures timely escalation / communication of customer spill incidents, and coordinates with Group, Plant Quality/OpEx, and Supplier Development colleges to ensure appropriate containment, root cause, and corrective actions are undertaken with the utmost urgency.

Qualifications

The primary responsibility for this position is managing quality operations at locations in both the U.S. and Mexico. The home base for this role will be Reynosa, Mexico so extensive time will need to be spent in that location.

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • This position requires the use of information or access to technology which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and/or Export Administration Regulations (EAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR/EAR. ITAR/EAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e., “Green Card Holder”), Political Asylee, or Refugee.”

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution; however, would prefer a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business

  • Ability to work in the United States without company sponsorship

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering or quality assurance with demonstrated ability to drive results in the area of Quality, continuous improvement, etc.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Management Systems such as ISO-9001, TS-16949, AS-9100 etc.

  • Business/technical proficiency in both English and Spanish languages

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Three years of experience in a role with multiple site responsibilities

  • EQS Assessor, ISO 9001 Lead Auditor certified

  • Certified Manager of Quality / Organizational Excellence (CQM / OE), ISO-9001 Auditor and Six Sigma Blackbelt

Key Competencies:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality assurance and continuous improvement methods, approaches and tools, including strategic management and project management.

  • In-depth experience with the practical application of Quality tools, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing methodologies.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Quality Management Systems such as ISO-9001, TS-16949, AS-9100 etc.

  • Knowledge and experience with the deployment of Eaton’s EQS and QFR process is preferred.

  • Ability to work in a matrix environment, get results and drive change through others.

  • Ability to learn customers’ Quality requirements and drive process improvements.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills as well as planning and organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage by influence through solid relationships and process focus
