Eaton Corporation Sr. Portal Architect in Cleveland, Ohio

Join Eaton’s Information Technology team and help positively impact our business through leading technologies, exciting and challenging enterprise projects and new platforms. We are currently seeking a Portal Architect to join our team. This is an opportunity to provide architectural leadership on a platform which supports Eaton’s highly trafficked Intranet site, as well as external customer facing portal. These platforms are critical to Eaton’s ability to serve internal and external customers. This position can be based out of any US Eaton location.

The Portal Architect will architect, design, and build the technical foundation of Eaton's enterprise, global web capabilities, utilizing Eaton’s portal and web content management platforms. This role serves as a key influencer and mentor setting technical strategy for web content management to meet IT and Business strategies. You will architect, design, develop and deliver web-based solutions to provide new capabilities and solve complex business problems. This person drives technology standards and process across a global team scope: Oracle WebCenter Portal, Oracle WebCenter Content, Oracle Access Manager, and related Java applications.

Essential Functions:

  • You will plan for future-state technology portfolios and IT program investments.

  • You will develop, communicate, and deploy global architecture governance processes.

  • You will drive solution architecture, ensure technical alignment and facilitate technical solution delivery.

  • You will be accountable for maintaining high levels of solution performance, availability and capacity, demonstrating a commitment to quality.

  • You will work within Eaton's IT Organization to successfully influence the direction of key technical elements of the solution environment.

  • You will be able to collaborate across technology partners to drive overall solutions. Broad level of technical and functional knowledge across all technology components.

  • You will design and provide solutions to fit the requirements of the project stakeholders, customers, and end users conforming to the standards established by the IT organization.

Specific Duties:

  • Advanced technical skills along with mentorship, coaching, development , advisor and mentor.

  • Definition of design and development standards for solutions platforms and peripheral applications.

  • Champion solution flexibility, reuse and legacy-application retirement.

  • Development of proactive monitoring solutions for all solution elements.

  • Event correlation across solution elements, including analysis and resolution.

  • Solution concept design and estimation.

  • Conduct design reviews and architecture assessments to ensure compliance to IT standards.

  • Develop standards for new technologies, including decision criteria for when to employ new technologies vs. existing.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline such as: B.S. in Computer Science, Mathematics, or Engineering

  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT in multiple technology platforms is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of expertise designing, developing, optimizing and maintaining enterprise-class web platforms.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience of successfully delivering on all aspects of a technology project

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Position Criteria:

  • Exposure to several layers of technology solutions: hardware, application administration, application development, support, etc.

  • Experience in enterprise application architecture

  • Experience with server side JAVA and JSP development

  • Requires the ability to work on multiple projects of varying scope and scale

  • Excellent proficiency with the English language (written and verbal). Additional language capabilities are a plus

  • Experience with Oracle WebCenter Portal (WCP) 11 or 12

  • Experience with Oracle WebCenter Content (UCM) 11

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Oracle Access Manager (OAM)

  • Knowledge of presentation-layer technologies such as HTML, HTML5, JavaScript, XML, Java7-8, JQuery, Ajax, CSS,CSS3, Bootstrap 3, responsive design and responsive web development

  • Experience with integration of enterprise systems

  • Experience and working knowledge of related disciplines such as Information Architecture, Solution Architecture

  • Exposure to several layers of technology solutions: hardware, application administration, application development, support, etc.
