Plant Manager

Location: Brierley Hill, UK

This Plant Manager position is responsible for the overall leadership, management and P&L of an automotive manufacturing plant in a challenging market environment. Overall responsibility for leading plant teams in achieving production schedule, product quality, product cost, and employee safety goals. Provides leadership to all functional and service groups to meet customer requirements. Drives performance to achieve or exceed financial plans and strategic goals. Leverages resources and motivates personnel to create a high performance culture.

Key responsibilities:

  • Coordinate plant activities with departmental managers to ensure the total manufacturing objectives are accomplished in a timely and cost effective manner.

  • Increase production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards. Implement cost effective systems of control over capital, operating expenditures, manpower, wages and salaries.

  • Develop and maintain compliance with EQS plan and maintain IATF/TS Certification.

  • Implement strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives and provide a clear sense of direction and focus in line with the Vehicle Group EMEA Strategic Plan and related Product Line plans.

  • Maintain and maximize the utilization of the corporate assets of plant building and grounds, machine tools, process equipment, computer systems and material inventories.

  • Develop effective communications and spirit of teamwork between the plant operation and field sales, customers, other division plants and the division staff.

  • Develop and implement plans to enhance the quality of work life within the plant by assuring that open channels of communication exist with employees; participative employee teams are cultivated and trained; and clean, safe working conditions are maintained.

  • Commit to plant safety procedures. Be the driver for full compliance to Eaton's internal Environmental Health and Safety Program's goals and objectives.

  • Assure compliance with established accounting practices for the control and reporting of financial performance.

  • Plan and direct facilities investments to improve productivity and provide production capacity consistent with sales volume objectives.

  • Develop the plant leadership team to improve competencies and a talent line for succession.

  • Stay up to date with latest production management best practices and concepts.

  • Assure compliance with EHS regulations, IATF 16949 & ISO 14001.

  • Participations in audits e.g. 5S, IATF 16949, LPA, LOTO, observation of behaviors.

Develop the Plastics business to improve sales and performance both at Brierley Hill and other regions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Business. MBA Preferred.

  • Working knowledge of current manufacturing, engineering, materials/purchasing and quality assurance methods and practices.

  • A thorough understanding of financial practices and financial statements is required.

  • Administrative knowledge in information systems and in controlling key projects and plant initiatives.

  • A minimum of 5-7 years equivalent experience with progressive levels of responsibility in manufacturing, engineering, finance, sales, etc.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Knowledge of Plastics would be beneficial due to the growth and need to support other locations

  • Preferred experience in the Automotive Sector
