Eaton Corporation Senior Engineer-Joints Product in Beltsville, Maryland

Eaton’s Aerospace-Fluid Electrical Distribution division is seeking a Senior Engineer-Joints Product to join our team. The position will be based at our Beltsville, MD facility.

The Senior Engineer-Joints Product is responsible for accomplishing the act as the technical product design guide on site to support sustaining projects. You will also be responsible for the design, development, qualification, and release of new or existing production hardware products for Aircraft fluid conveyance systems. The role requires the ability to apply sound engineering concepts, practical problem solving, and engineering tools (e.g. phase gate process such as PROLaunch) in an organized and timely way. Projects will focus on sustaining projects, but will also range from product development through qualification. Provide technical support for pneumatic systems components, including V-band couplings, sheet metal and machined flange, flex joints, band clamps and straps.

  • You will create new products and modifies existing products to support customer, applicable industry standards, regulatory, and market requirements.

  • You will respond to Sustaining Engineering issues, developing timely, cost effective solutions to product life cycle goals or problems. Support vendor change delta qualifications, manufacturing issues, and legacy product maintenance.

  • You will provide technical support to all internal departments, suppliers and customers as it relates to existing products.

  • You will prepare Engineering inputs to customer proposals, creating solutions and estimating materials, testing costs and Engineering labor.

  • You will perform mechanical design and dimensional testing. Perform preliminary structural, thermal, dynamic, and performance testing for design validation. Interface effectively with applicable COE resources to accomplish complete product testing.

  • You will define test procedures and setups for development, acceptance, and qualification testing. Coordinate with Test Labs, monitor testing of data to assure compliance to the established requirements. Review and approve test reports.

  • You will assist with failure testing examinations and Failure Testing Reports (FAR) of test findings and field issues.

Qualifications

Required (Basic) Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in an engineering lab or manufacturing environment.

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience developing 3D CAD models (using tools like Catia V5 or Ansys).

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now and in the future.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within the immediate geographical area of Beltsville, MD 20705 will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering.

  • 3 years of experience in mechanical design of sealed conveyance components or systems (tubes, ducting, rigid and flexible joints and couplers, flanges).

  • Proficiency in CATIA v5 and PRO Engineer Wildfire.

  • Proficiency in Product Data Management systems for document control and workflow management (ENOVIA is a plus).

Position Success Criteria:

  • Willing to travel up to 75% of the time.

  • Travel 50-75% to Toccoa, GA and occasionally to Tijuana, Mexico manufacturing plant to support sustaining work, customer visits, and product training. The remaining time would be located at the engineering hub located at the Beltsville, MD plant.

  • Ability to effectively document and present results of technical activities.

  • A technical knowledge of aerospace pneumatic ducting systems, flexible joints, and other connectors, which includes product design, manufacturing methods (in-house and sub-contracted) and qualification testing.

  • Ability to interpret technical and regulatory specifications and convert requirements to qualifying actions including testing, similarity, and testing.
