Eaton Corporation Lead Engineering Technician in Arden, North Carolina
Eaton’s manufacturing facility located in Arden NC has an opening for a Lead Engineering Technician for the MVCA product line.
This position is responsible for utilizing CAD technology to perform design and technical work requiring a high degree of creativity as well as technical and drafting skills, demonstrating a thorough understanding of basic materials, mechanical and electrical principals and manufacturing concepts in the development of standard product designs and/or processing of customer orders of the most complex nature.
Using computer aided design (CAD) to prepare original mechanical or electrical layouts or drawings involving new or existing apparatus or customer designs of a very sophisticated nature.
Determines clearances (mechanical and electrical), and develops kinematics interactions and any other involved mechanical and electrical features of the design.
Fabricates very sophisticated prototypes. Coordinates and conducts sophisticated tests or experiments requiring a high degree of ingenuity. Gathers, records, and interprets data so as to decide on the next action, and proceeds. Reports overall results to an engineer or manager.
Working knowledge to fits, tolerances, strengths and weights, calculates stresses, deflections, centers of gravity, moments of inertia, electrical circuit parameters and other related items.
Initiates changes in existing products or customer designs to improve performance, quality or cost.
Prepares all drawings pertinent to a major design project or customer project order.
Consults with engineers, marketing personnel or outside vendors when required to solve problems.
Checks work to assure conformance with Asheville Plant's quality standards.
Associates Degree in Electronics or Mechanical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution and minimum one (1) year experience in electrical field or a plant environment OR Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial or Mechatronics Engineering from an accredited institution.

No relocation assistance is being provided. Only candidates that currently reside within a 50 mile radius of Arden, NC will be considered.
Minimum two (2) years in design or drafting.
Minimum two (2) years of experience with CAD.
Thorough understanding of CAD and basic drafting principles.
MS Office computer skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), AutoCAD, Inventor, databases
Frequent contact with design, manufacturing, purchasing and marketing personnel to provide and obtain information in connection with the current or prior work assignment.
Occasional contact with outside vendor, field sales and customer personnel to obtain or provide information connected with work assignments.
Possess a broad working knowledge of product and/or customer project design activity with demonstrated ability and drafting skills.
Must be able to troubleshoot manufacturing and customer problems and report results.
