Eaton Corporation Assembler - 2nd Shift in Williamsburg, Virginia

Eaton Corporation's Marina Power & Energy business located in historic Williamsburg, VA has an opening for an Assembler on 2nd Shift.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • An understanding of the production systems, use of hand tools, torque drivers, pneumatic tools.

  • Must be able to read and interpret wiring schematics, drawings and bills of material.

  • Perform routine preventative maintenance when required to ensure peak performance of all manufacturing equipment.

  • Make simple set-ups and perform routine, preventative maintenance.

  • Will perform ongoing minor troubleshooting and maintenance of equipment.

  • Will also move material as needed to complete responsibilities using material handling carts. Will need lifting capabilities - 75 lbs.; push/pull 100lbs.

  • Exhibit a strong adherence to quality by continually seeking methods of improvement for all functions of the position. Ensure quality criteria are met by review of documents, consciences assembly and proper employment of quality verification checklist.

  • Receive and carry out work assignments from management and internal customers so as to fulfill customer orders in a timely manner.

  • Perform assigned function from oral / written instructions, drawings, travel documents, manufacturing information, hand drawn layout request. Closely follow established procedures for completing assigned function.

  • Comply with all safety requirements, including proper use of personal protective equipment and operation of equipment in a safe and competent manner. Understand and meet all departmental safety objectives and goals. Keep assigned work-area clean, organized, and orderly per 5S standards.

  • Ensure all safety and industrial hygiene requirements are maintained.

  • Work from manufacturing information such as Kanban cards, MI’s, requisitions and oral or written instructions.

  • Work with members of a team to effectively complete work assignment. Receive information from team members regarding customer needs and product requirements and utilize this information to perform one’s function.

  • Perform Lean Initiatives.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum of High School diploma GED from an accredited institution is required.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

  • No relocation is provided for this position. only candidates that currently reside within 50 miles of the Williamsburg, VA facility will be considered.

  • Minimum 1 year experience in an industrial/manufacturing environment.

Position Criteria:

  • Must be able to move up-to 50 pounds with assistance .

  • Must be strong in several competencies including, but not limited to: drive for results, action-oriented, approachable, timely decision making, integrity and trust, self-motivated, strong written communication, and ability to learn from experience.

  • Must have working knowledge of business systems, employee relations, and manufacturing operations.

  • Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Proficient math and reading skills.

  • Must have ability to read and understand wiring schematics and drawings.

  • Sound reasoning skills and ability to act on them to ensure quality of work is essential.

  • Saturday and daily overtime is required frequently.

  • Employee must be willing to participate in training opportunities.

  • Incumbent is responsible for complying with environmental and security rules and procedures. Incumbent is also responsible for complying with occupational safety and health standards and all rules, regulations, procedures, and orders issued related to OSH Act which are applicable to the incumbent's own actions and conduct including bringing unsafe acts and conditions to the attention of Management.
