Job Description Eaton's Aerospace business based in Titchfield, Hampshire has a vacancy for an Engineering Manager to manage the Fuel Components Group activities utilising the Eaton tools to meet Eaton’s standard philosophies & work practices.
Essential Function:
Manages, supervises and develops the Components group (13 heads) within the Engineering organization. Prioritizes tasks and undertakes performance reviews. Provides mentoring to less experienced engineers, and leads efforts to define and update engineering processes relating to new product development, including close liaison with other engineering disciplines such as electrical & electronics team. Prepares and reviews technical content of product proposals, and presents to customers. Manages the work flow and resources within the components group and works with programme management to define project schedules. Provides assistance and resources as required to support in-service issues.
A. Leads and develops the Components team in areas of APEX resource planning and recruitment
B. Monitors product development during all phases of a program and guides development of corrective action and recovery plans as required. Periodically reports development program status to the customer as well as senior management. Tracks program EAC costs to budget
C. Develops members of the Components team through mentoring, skills development and growth activities. Utilizes APEX process to manage goals and career development plans.
D. Works in cross-disciplinary manner with other functions/departments (e.g., Manufacturing, Marketing, Procurement, Customer Support, Suppliers, etc.) to develop products to cost and schedule
E. Works with Program Management to manage and control the project budget to plan
F. Manages the customer technical relationship maintaining customer satisfaction, and assuring that scope is managed appropriately and contract changes are secured where appropriate.
G. Works with other Engineering Managers and Program Management for resource planning short and long term
H. Reviews or produces technical proposals and budgetary estimates for new business opportunities.
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) At least 5 years Technical Management experience in a relevant professional engineering environment ideally gained in the Aerospace or equivalent high technology Industry.
Proven problem solving ability and demonstration of the skills necessary to manage a technical team. Developing appropriate relationships at all levels of the organisation with the ability to work well within a team and on your own initiative.
Degree in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Experience with Project Web Access and Design for Six Sigma would be an advantage.
