Powertrain Damper Engineer

location: Tczew, Poland

Eaton campus in Tczew manufactures transmissions and transmissions components for heavy and medium duty trucks, superchargers for passenger car engines, differentials for use in construction, agriculture and military vehicles, centrifugal clutches for use in mobile refrigerating units, plastic fuel vapor valves for passenger vehicles, clutches for various commercial vehicle applications. The site has around 650 employees and a production space of 25 000 sqm. Additionally Tczew is home to numerous corporate roles and functions including engineering, supply chain, accounting, IT.

Powertrain Damper Engineer contributes to and provides project leadership for powertrain damper and related clutch and transmission NVH system solutions. This position is part of a multidiscipline team responsible for design/development and delivery of new products and technology to the customer, as well as supporting responsibilities for continuous product improvements, manufacturing support and competitive analysis.

Position reports to Engineering Manager Clutches based at Tczew.

Essential Functions:

  • Envisions, designs, develops and validates global powertrain damper and related clutch and transmission systems that lead to commercialization of industry leading solutions.

  • Leads NPD program activities and current product engineering projects, ensuring products are delivered at cost targets and per timing commitments.

  • Contributes to development of simulation tools, procedures, and experimental design methods, facilitating improved time to market.

  • Contributes to specification of new test equipment and software for lab and vehicle level dynamics evaluations, calibration tuning, and validation.

  • Prepares and publishes technical documentation and processes in support of knowledge management objectives.

  • Assesses and supports global RFQ activities. Contributes to technical specifications addressing OEM and Aftermarket requirements.

  • Contributes to internal and customer related NVH assessments.

  • Guides the global team in use of standard NVH tools, processes and consistency.

  • Pursues opportunities to create IP that positively impacts Eaton’s business

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant engineering field from a globally accredited university or college

  • Minimum of 5 years of automotive, commercial vehicle, or related industry experience

  • Strong written and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge of powertrain systems and dynamics including engines, transmissions, & clutches

  • Technical knowledge and expertise with NVH principles, analysis, and tools

  • Ability to build strong customer relationships with global OEMs

  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally up to 15% of time
