Eaton Corporation Engineering Technician Supervisor in Sumter, South Carolina
Eaton’s Commercial Distribution Products and Assemblies Division is seeking an Engineering Technician Supervisor. The Engineering Technician Supervisor role will be located at our Sumter, SC facility. Relocation is provided for this role.
This position is the primary technical leader and resource for developing the switchboard technicians and driving process and product quality improvement. The incumbent will be responsible for the implementation of continuous improvement/training activities within the department and with Eaton systems software (NGBM, AS400 and DA) for the P&S product line. These products are critical to the success of Eaton and its partners.
Leading technical and managerial interface for all mechanical and drafting tasks including but not limited to planning, coordinating, maintaining, and meeting overall production schedule.
Managing the development of conceptual designs based on customer requirements and factory capability.
Participate in Lean events and contribute to process improvements designed to reduce cycle time, increase front end efficiencies and improve information quality.
Interface with the Design Engineering department when necessary for development of switchboard custom designs.
Interface with Quality/Warranty Department to ensure continued post-shipment customer support
Provide input to Bid Man development team on design and pick table enhancements.
Administering performance management process and managing the career development of direct reports.
Support and assist assembly teams in resolution of process and or information quality problems.
Lead team with goal of improving quality, productivity, reducing cycle time, and/or achieving major cost savings.
Proactively participate on cross functional teams in support of implementing lean manufacturing strategies, including front end business process improvement.
Promoting and championing Eaton Business System, Eaton Lean System, and Eaton Quality System for team. (Reduction of turnbacks, perform 5 Whys and 8D’s).
Fostering an environment that promotes Eaton’s goals, philosophies, and encourages continuous improvement
Lead 8D Corrective Action activities and Quality Councils serving as subject matter expert on quality issues within direct scope of responsibility.
Identifying, attracting, training and retaining key technical talent for the P&S organization.
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum 5 years of experience in an engineering or quality engineer position
Minimum 1 year of managerial experience
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Six Sigma certification or related ASQ certification (especially Certified Quality Engineer certification)
Proficient in developing mechanical and electrical drawings.
Previous experience with manufacturing and production processes
Previous experience in electronic and electro-mechanical design
Previous experience with UL
Previous experience working with switchboards and panelboards
