Position Overview:

Reporting to the Manager, Power Systems Engineering, this role is the Lead Power System Engineer for CYME International T&D product lines located in St-Bruno-De-Montarville, QC, Canada. The Power System Engineer is responsible for leading R&D engineering projects, new product developments, power system projects and studies for CYME software product lines and services.

Primary Functions:

  • Leads complex power system software new product development.

  • Leads complex development in all power systems engineering development phases: specification analysis, research and development, design, support of software development team during implementation, testing and documentation for CYME power system analysis software.

  • Provides second level of technical support for software users.

  • Supports software developers and quality assurance team during the development cycle.

  • Writes technical papers in leading industry conference and journals (e.g. IEEE).

  • Leads small power engineering team in the development of custom software projects.

  • Provides R&D documentation for tax incentives the Scientific Research and Experimental Development (SR&ED) Canadian program.

  • Serves as a subject matter expert externally and internally. This includes leadership/active participation in external industry and technical groups, mentoring junior level staff and consulting internal business and engineering partners.

  • Legally authorized to travel internationally for customer visits and project workshops.

  • Ability to learn fast and master new and complex concepts/theory.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in power system simulations for power grid system applications.

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada without company sponsorship.

  • Relocation is not being offered for this position. Candidates must reside within a 80km radius of Saint-Bruno-de-Montarville.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree or Phd in power systems, electrical engineering, computer science or a related field.

  • Knowledge of Power Engineering Software: CYME, PSCAD, EMTP

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.

  • Superior organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills

  • Proficiency in mathematics: Linear algebra and Numerical Computation.

  • Proficiency in software development: Structured and object-oriented programming

  • Experience with software design process and tools, such Matlab or Python prototyping.

  • Proven track record of publication in reputable peer-reviewed journals.

  • Should be recognized externally as a subject matter expert in power system simulation. This may be evident through invitations to present a technical presentation or publish in a technical journal as SME to an audience of technical/industry peers.
