Eaton's Engineering Service & Systems division has an opening for a Field Service Technician located in Fenton, MO (St. Louis) Area. Primary Function: The Field Service Technician will provide field service support and consultation such as acceptance testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting of low, medium, and high voltage systems; advise customers and provide best technical solution to solve the customer issue; complete assigned jobs with assistance from lead technicians and engineers; conduct required tests and calibration using test equipment; check and maintain equipment to ensure compliance with applicable standards. Essential Functions: A. Continuously improve personal, technical and professional business skills enabling incumbent to service products to customer’s satisfaction through keeping current with product technology as measured by ability to troubleshoot and repair various products and to instruct others.

B. Provide timely, detailed and accurate reports on service work performed, product performance, and warranty liabilities to company expense and time allocation.

C. Become computer efficient using laptops provided and mastering all required software.

D. Maintain all service equipment including all test equipment, tools issued to meet specifications including EBE, ISO requirements, etc. in good working condition and maintain sufficient inventory to respond to standard calls.

E. Field Service Engineer must have the availability to work evening and weekend hours. Frequent U.S. travel will be required by automobile within the district territory and possibly by air plane to support other domestic districts. Occasional international travel is possible to support global customers. The Field Service Engineer must be available to be on-call and respond to customer emergencies. Frequent overnights, up to 50% of the time are common. The Field Service Engineer will possess or be able to obtain a valid drivers license.

F. Proven customer service, sales ability, and ability to handle irate or difficult customers and gain satisfaction.

Basic Qualifications: -High School diploma/G.E.D. from an accredited school required

-Minimum 5 years experience evaluating and servicing electrical distribution or control systems

-Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship

  • Ability to deliver technical solutions to customers with a high degree of professionalism.

  • Ability to perform conventional, less complex engineering assignments that may involve equipment or product design, testing of materials, preparation of specifications, process studies, or research investigations.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must, with ability to be flexible to adjust to changing field conditions.

  • Ability to travel when required.

  • Strong computer skills Preferred Qualifications: -Associates degree from an accredited institution

-Experience in testing, troubleshooting, evaluating, and servicing electrical distribution and control systems

-Experience performing power quality measurements troubleshooting, and analysis

-Experience with protective relays Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, stoop, squat, reach to or below shoulder level, lift, carry, push, pull, and use hands to handle and feel.
