Eaton Corporation Senior Manufacturing Engineer in South Bend, Indiana
Eaton’s Vehicle Division is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer. The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will be based at our South Bend, IN facility.
Leads forging, die, and process design activities for the plant. Supports projects to achieve plant goals in safety, quality, delivery and cost, in a manner consistent with South Bend’s designation as Eaton’s Forging COE (Center of Excellence). Serves as plant lead and primary contact for quoting new business and launching new product. Works closely with Production and both Divisional Advanced Manufacturing and Program Management functions to create and implement new products and processes. Additional responsibility includes executing the organization’s strategic plan consistent with established industry standards, regulations and customer requirements
Develops and maintains robust, cost efficient manufacturing processes and product structures, including BOMs, routings, item masters, work instructions, control plans, tooling, and gaging, consistent with lean manufacturing practices.
Develops or optimizes forging and die designs using 3D CAD modeling and forging simulation software. Proficient with Pro/E Creo, or other modeling software.
Develop and maintain DFMEAs by product line.
Demonstrates ability to understand source(s) of variation by applying Six Sigma methodologies, and DLSS to forging and die designs. Conducts designed experiments. Understands application of SPC and gage R&R.
Utilizes PROLaunch (as required) to support profitable, reliable and on-time launch of projects. (NPD, STP, etc.)
Leads new and concurrent product engineering projects. Conducts Design For Manufacturing and value engineering initiatives, as applicable.
Supports Capital Appropriation Requests (including payback and net present value analysis) for acquisition of equipment to support emerging and existing technologies.
Assists leadership team and others in performing work load analysis and resources optimization.
Extracts and manipulates data from ERP systems as needed.
Provides training, guidance and technical support to leaders and operators.
Supports 8D, root cause & corrective action activities to support failure analysis, as required.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution required.
Minimum 2 years of Engineering experience.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or anytime in the future.
Minimum 5 years of Engineering experience.
Experience in 3D design software.
Warm or cold forging experience.
Experience with tooling design.
Experience leading continuous improvement initiatives.
Six Sigma certification.
