Eaton has an opening for a Continuous Improvement Manager.

The Continuous Improvement Manager is responsible for leading the following initiatives: implementation of lean manufacturing (ELSS) and variation reduction to enhance the overall effectiveness of manufacturing operations for the Hydraulics Americas operations. Lead Operations Assessments and lead and participate in the OpA LR process. Deliver and drive improving maturity associated with the Continuous Improvement Framework. Maintain ELS bench strength through effective delivery of the Lean Certification Methodology. Co-chair the Hydraulics CI Council. Develop and deliver CI strategies that improve overall performance through excellence in operations, improving CI cultural awareness and organizational capability. Provide ELSS and CI support to “focus” plants as directed by the Americas VP of Operations.

Essential Functions:

  • Lead lean manufacturing initiatives to enhance the overall effectiveness of manufacturing operations and achieve manufacturing excellence. Development / execution of strategic plans for implementation of Continuous Improvement initiatives in all Hydraulics Americas manufacturing locations based upon Functional and Operations assessments (OpA, ELSS, MMA, EQS, MMA and PROLaunch). Conduct CI competency assessments and provide training associated with Continuous improvement as required (Lean Certification, CIF, FLL, Manufacturing Strategy, Material Flow).

  • Interface with Continuous Improvement, functional and operational leaders at the Division, Group, Sector and Corporate level as well as counterparts at other Eaton businesses and locations.

  • Drive core functional excellence in implementing: Eaton Business System, Lean, Six Sigma, CIF, FLL, OpA and other world-class operation management techniques.

  • Personally lead change to improve organizational effectiveness. Drive the change management necessary to implement effective lean manufacturing operations.

  • Assist Plant Managers, Operations Managers, Manufacturing Managers and other Continuous Improvement personnel in the development of procedures and systems to maximize output, maintain or improve “High Five” performance, assist “needle mover” sites in achieving both World Class and Model Plant performance levels and reduce overall cost.

  • Teach Rapid Improvement Event (one week kaizen blitz via Lean Certification sessions) methodology via mentoring, leading, and facilitating key events. Build capability of Lean Coordinators and high potential production leaders.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business, or industrial technology from accredited institution.

  • Minimum of 10 years of lean manufacturing experience

  • Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated use of problem solving tools and methods (six sigma, 8D, QOS or other) and Balanced Scorecard goal setting process.

  • Minimum of 3 years of ERP systems Knowledge (CAD / CAM / CIM / PDM)

  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt Certification required.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

  • Relocation is not offered for this role. Only candidates residing within a 50 mile radius of an Eaton Industrial Sector location will be considered.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). Preferred Requirements:

  • MBA

  • Lean Six Sigma Train-the-Trainer qualification

  • Familiarity with Malcolm-Baldrige national quality award criteria

  • Familiarity and understanding of vertically and horizontally integrated manufacturing

  • Shainin Red X proficiency
