Eaton Corporation Maintenance Technician (2nd Shift) in Reno, Nevada

Eaton has an opening for a Maintenance Technician (2nd Shift) located in Reno, NV.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical systems using blueprints and technical manuals

  • Performs preventative maintenance on all machinery to minimize downtime

  • Fabrication of various devices and mechanisms to improve, repair or replace that which is not operating properly or efficiently

  • Welding, prototyping, plumbing, painting, masonry, piping, and carpentry duties as necessary

  • Maintain telephone, paging, computers, and fire alarm equipment and wiring.

  • Various facilities responsibilities such as repairing/replacing lights, snow removal, basic plumbing, etc.

  • Keeps work areas clean and safe

  • Supports all facility Continuous Improvement and LEAN initiatives including, but not limited to:

  • Maintain 5-S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) throughout shop floor and office areas.

  • Track and sustain all visual management tools such as, but not limited to: layered audits, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) boards, and any additional LEAN tools that are deemed necessary to provide direction, goals and status to the shop floor.

  • Encourage, support, and actively participate in Kaizen improvements and events throughout the facility, department, and area of responsibility.

  • Other various duties and responsibilities as may be assigned

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or GED from an accredited institution required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of maintenance experience.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

  • Relocation is not provided for this role. Only candidates residing within a 50 mile radius of Reno, NV will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 7 + years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Technical school diploma or associates degree

  • Working knowledge of all production machinery and equipment, mechanical aptitude

  • Clutch/brake systems and gearboxes

  • Hydraulics

  • Electric motors and drives

  • Logic controls

  • Programmable controllers

  • Able to read, accurately interpret blue prints, shop drawings, and technical manuals

  • Understanding and experience in welding

  • Must be familiar with the safe use of all hand tools and power equipment

  • Able to work effectively and productively as member of a team with minimal supervision

  • Forklift/crane certified

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • Able to stand on feet continuously during working shift. Kneeling, bending and climbing required

  • Able to regularly lift 50 pounds without assistance.

  • Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment as required by company policy and procedure.

  • Able to work at heights of up to 40 feet above the floor.

  • Exposure to high noise level (ear protection may be required in some areas).

  • Work environment exposes to oils, lubricants, solvents, weather exposure.

  • Must have own basic hand tools and measuring instruments.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in written and verbal format in English.

  • Must be able to work flexible hours including nights and weekends with little advanced notice. This position has a required rotation of Saturday work.

  • Must be able to start on 1st shift for training purposes.
