Job Description Eaton Corporation located in Raleigh, NC has an opening for an Accounting Specialist, Government Contracts.

The primary responsibilities for this position include but are not limited to: ensure compliance with existing government accounting regulations and standards, including internal reviews and external audits. Maintains awareness with issues concerning FAR, DFAR and CAS. Responsible for preparing CAS Disclosure Statements, indirect costs proposals, forward pricing rates and incurred cost claims. Engaged with broader Government Contracts organization to share best practices.

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

• Application and analysis of accounting principles on contracts, costs, processes, practices and procedures with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) and Cost Accounting Standards (CAS).
• Prepare Disclosure Statements.
• Prepare indirect cost proposals and incurred costs claims to insure compliance and to obtain cost recovery consistent with regulations and standards.
• Works closely with accounting staff, contract teams, company attorneys and compliance to ensure that company proposals, billings and claims comply with Government contract cost accounting regulations and that costs charged to the Government are allocable and allowable.
• Maintain records to support Government audits and fact finding.
• Assist in Government requests for records. Assist in audits by oversight agencies, including Administrative Contracting Officers (ACO), Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) and Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA), and the U.S. General Services Administration.
• Maintain awareness of issues concerning FAR, DFAR and CAS, disseminating guidance and embedding within policies & procedures as appropriate.
• Engaged with broader Eaton Government Contracts organization, including accounting, contracts and compliance to share best practices.
• Make recommendations on accounting processes across the business to streamline audit preparation and compliance
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited institution
- Minimum 4 years work experience in Accounting or Finance
- 3 years experience with FAR and CAS requirements
- Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship

Position Criteria:
- Thorough knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and concepts
- FAR and CAS knowledge, and other related Federal government regulations
- Familiarity with DCAA and DCMA regulations and procedures and experience
with DCAA audits
- Ability to prepare audit reports
- Working knowledge of financial and ERP systems
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to operate across a matrix organizational structure
