Eaton Corporation EHS Manager in North Charleston, South Carolina
Eaton’s Aerospace Group is currently recruiting for an EHS Manager to work in our Charleston, SC location.
This position will be responsible for providing environmental, health, safety, and security leadership to the site; develop and maintain a proactive approach to Environmental, Health and Safety functions; drive and promotes zero incident EHS culture throughout site.
Responsible for advising, guiding and management in all areas concerning environmental regulations, processes, and procedures pertaining to EPA regulations, OSHA and SC department of Health, Environmental Control and WWPT (Water Pre-treatment Systems).
Responsible for development, direction and maintenance of all EHS processes to ensure regulatory compliance and safe workplace.
Responsible for establishing site EHS objectives, metrics and targets; Responsible for site EHS reporting, MESH Suite Reporting, and reporting of metrics and performance internally to Eaton.
Responsible for communicating and reporting national, area and local regulatory requirements, and metrics with corporate guidance.
Responsible for managing site EHS interface with corporate, group and plant management, public and governmental authorities with adverse findings and enforcement actions;
Responsible for Incident reporting and evaluations.
Responsible for facilitating risk assessments to identify critical EHS hazards; Responsible for all EHS regulatory, site inspections, (including but limited to PPE, Safety Near Miss, Ergonomics, Safety, LOTO, Fire Extinguishers). Responsible for coordinating the closure of all assessment, MESH and regulatory agency findings and risk on a timely basis.
Responsible for compliance to and acquiring of all required site EHS licenses (storm, air, water, etc); as well as maintaining site ISO/OSHA certifications. Responsible for operating and maintaining site waste water system with required license.
Responsible for all required and elected EHS training for managers, leaders, employees, contractors and EHS teams. Create training matrices to ensure that all training is defined and tracked to completion.
Responsible for Disaster Preparedness Programs and directing site EHS actions during crises; works with leadership team and MESH element champions to complete an annual evaluation of compliance for EHS country, state and local regulations.
Responsible for medical and first aid procedures and emergency response.
Responsible for site security, including contractors, visitors, employees, etc.
Creates and facilitates EHS engagement throughout EHS teams, High Performance Work Teams (HPWT) and committees needed to accomplish the established objectives for the year.
Responsible for creating a strong EHS culture that engages employees throughout the site in EHS teams and processes.
Contracts with outside vendors for necessary contracted work.
Supports creation of EHS and Facilities goals for the site manager and appropriate activity-based goals for the leadership team, functional managers, and front-line supervisors to drive EHS culture, compliance and results
Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution required
Minimum 3 years of prior Environmental, Health, or Safety experience or a combination of those functions
Must be legally authorized to work in the US without Company Sponsorship
This position requires the use of information or access to hardware which subject to International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. – ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee.
Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or an environmental discipline
Advanced degree in EHS related field.
Prior Machining experience
Working experience within Environmental EHS responsibilities
CHMM Certification would be a plus; Hazwoper Certification
Prior experience creating Lock Out Tag Out procedures
Professional Certifications in EHS field (certified Safety Professional, Industrial Hygienist, etc).
Knowledge of industry, state and country EHS requirements.
Demonstrated ability to lead and support strong team initiatives.
Demonstrated managerial courage.
Demonstrated ability to effectively train.
Knowledge of ISO 14001 Standards
Working experience with VPP (voluntary protection program) for OSHA - could end up being eligible for this.
