Eaton has an opening for a VP, Strategic & Commercial Marketing within the Controls & Protection Division, located in Moon Township, PA. The VP, Strategic & Commercial Marketing is responsible for managing the strategic and commercial marketing functions for the Controls & Protection Division (CPD). Reporting directly to the President of CPD, this position is responsible for building & deploying the Strategic Plan for the overall business, coordinating the M&A activity for the business, and directing the day to day focus and results of commercial marketing for the vertical markets that the business serves.

The VP, Strategic & Commercial Marketing also acts as a business partner with the VPGM’s and the functional leaders including operations, HR, and finance to optimize the performance of the overall business.

The ideal candidate is an action-oriented critical thinker, attentive to detail yet able to synthesize information quickly, skilled in driving process improvements, demonstrates the drive, business acumen, and people capability to deliver results within a cross functional, growing, and profitable business.

The successful candidate will consistently demonstrate the ability to lead and influence a geographically dispersed team through a positive and supportive approach, communicate and collaborate across multiple functions & businesses, while driving growth and holding team members accountable for performance expectations.

The primary function of this position is to develop the strategic plan, identify M&A targets and lead the commercial marketing efforts across the Controls & Protection Division (CPD).

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Working closely with the CPD Leadership Team, lead the development of the long-term strategic plan for the division including, but not limited to, evaluating the trends within various market segments determining how CPD can best create shareholder value within that space as well as identifying the best acquisition targets within those markets and developing relationships with those targets.

  • In partnership with corporate business development and finance resources, oversee the end-to-end acquisition (M&A) process including target identification, business assessment, valuation, contract negotiation, integration planning and post-closing issue resolution.

  • Direct the day to day focus and results of commercial marketing for the vertical markets that the business serves – including:

  • Oversight of all Vertical Market growth initiatives, sales performance, market development, customer management, development of marketing programs, and vertical market pricing strategies and deal optimization.

  • Provide leadership in coordinating front-end initiatives with field sales, division Product Marketing and Operational functional teams to ensure product, market-based, and customer strategies are compelling and aligned to industry trends and customer requirements.

  • Develop a rapport with new clients, and set targets for sales and provide support that will continually improve key relationship. Focus on growing and retain existing accounts by presenting new solutions and services to clients.

  • Manage & grow the existing solutions capability of the Integration Engineering team and create a team of solution architects with deep application knowledge, ability to interface with customer at senior business & technical leadership levels, and conduct & coach solution based selling.

  • Achieve or exceed profit plan by alignment with each CPD divisions growth programs, price plans, new product development, and target and growth customers.

  • Develop a talent pipeline for sales and marketing and builds organizational capability through effective leadership and engagement aligned to Eaton’s goals, values and philosophy of direct and functional reporting teams.

  • Special projects as assigned.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering or other relevant field.

  • Minimum of 10 years senior management experience combining product management, sales and marketing experience.

Position Criteria:

  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.

  • Extensive experience in marketing, sales, channel management, and product management.

  • Experience with strategic pricing and relevant market based tools to maximize price, mix, and volume as it relates to customer negotiations.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead and partner with global cross-functional team in the development and implementation of commercial strategies and growth initiatives.

  • Represent CPD on Electrical Sector Americas pricing and marketing councils to drive consistent strategies and approaches across the organization.

  • Strong background in goal deployment, commercial executions, sales results and organizational development that engages and motivates team members internal and external to CPD.

  • Stewardship with applicable codes & standards linked to growth programs, product development, and marketing activities to position division and Eaton as a market leader and trusted advisor to customers.

  • A results oriented and highly adaptable individual that leads by example with a hands-on approach to inspire others
