Eaton Corporation Senior Product Designer in Moon Township, Pennsylvania

Eaton is seeking a Senior Product Designer for its newly formed Center for Connected Intelligent Solutions.

Position Overview :

Eaton’s Center for Connected Intelligent Solutions accelerates the company’s capabilities through the development of reusable, secure, reliable, integrated, and connected embedded and IoT platforms, providing a foundation for our businesses to more rapidly develop innovative products and services.

The designer will be a member of the User Experience Design Team and play a role in this work by producing research support for product development, research synthesis, prototyping, concept generation, and participating in user feedback sessions. Additionally, you will be responsible for creating high-fidelity design concepts for physical and digital products.

  • Gather and translate user research into meaningful and compelling concepts.

  • Facilitate product visions by researching, synthesizing information, sketching, storyboarding, prototyping, and mocking up user experiences for physical and digital products.

  • Lead project teams through the product development process using Design Thinking techniques.

  • Design and deliver wireframes, user stories, and user journeys optimized for a wide range of stakeholders and interfaces including large information dashboards to mobile interfaces.

  • Identify design challenges and develop elegant solutions to address these problems.

  • Make strategic design and user-experience decisions related to core, and new, functions and features.

  • Take a user-centered design approach and rapidly test and iterate your designs.

  • Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders and optimize for customer needs, business constraints, and technological realities

  • Take smart risks and champion new ideas.

  • Conduct detailed design reviews, document issues, and coordinate issue resolution.

  • Work closely with other designers and developers to guide the product from inception through delivery.

  • This is a hands-on position and the successful candidate will have responsibilities supporting multiple product teams, design adopters and contractors.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Design, Engineering or Computer Science from an accredited institution

  • Minimum 3+ years of experience as an Industrial Designer, Product Designer, User Interface Designer, User Experience Designer, Product Manager or Interaction Designer.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

  • No relocation is provided. Only candidates that reside within 50 miles of Moon TWP or Warrendale, PA will be considered

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Masters in Design, Engineering, Product Design, Human-Computer Interaction or related field from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience creating physical and digital designs for a wide variety of applications.

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience of hi-fidelity visual design, web design and wire-framing tools, user research methods, digital prototyping tools.

  • Minimum 3+ years’ experience with Agile development processes.

  • Experience leading teams and facilitating design workshops

Position Criteria:

  • A portfolio demonstrating excellent visual communication skills including industrial design, graphic design, UI/UX development, sketching, and rendering.

  • Illustrate progression from research through production.

  • Proven experience of launching successful products.

  • Demonstrate ability in communicating compelling user experiences through the highest quality, visually compelling storytelling techniques.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Familiarity with web and mobile technologies and their impacts on the feasibility of design solutions.

  • Familiarity with mechanical design, manufacturing design methods and technologies and their impacts on the feasibility of design solutions.

The ability to grasp complex and sometimes diverse customer needs and distill them into clean, understandable solutions.
