Eaton Corporation, has an opening for a Manager, Communication & Connectivity within the Electrical Component Operations (ECO) Organization.
This position can be located in either of the following locations:
Moon Township, PA
Milwaukee, WI
The primary function includes but is not limited to: lead ECO’s Communication & Connectivity (C&C) strategy, create an ECO wide and common platform approach to communication and connectivity in order to create a common, product family “look and feel” for all of ECO’s products.
Manages communication engineers in Milwaukee and Cherrington and partner with Eaton engineering centers (Communication and Software in Cherrington, HMI in Europe, resources in e.g. Pune, India).
Provides technical direction for the development of growth products. Communicates and coordinate activities with the divisions’ engineering managers and product line managers.
Essential functions include but are not limited to:
A. Leads the development of a clear strategy and technology roadmap for C&C and implements into ECO’s NPD product lines.
B. Participates in the strategic and profit plan process of each product line team.
C. As team member enables all new product development projects to be in line with ECO’s C&C strategy.
D. Ensures product family look & feel of all communication interfaces.
E. Develops ECO wide, common user interfaces standard for all applicable ECO product.
F. Implements product specific applications into ECO products.
G. Manages firmware / algorithms development with department internal and external (e.g. EIEC Pune) resources
H. Teams and provides feedback to Eaton’s Communication & Software Group
I. Stays current with the latest technology developments, disruptive technologies and advances in the electrical components industry and specifically around C&C technologies.
J. Supports and participates in key standards bodies for communication protocols such as ODVA, PTO and Modbus IDA
K. Manages direct reports, conducts performance reviews, administers merit plan, oversees reward and recognition, and sets goals and development plans with direct reports.
L. Organizes and builds talent base within the department, creates opportunities for growth and development of engineering team through effective development plans. Promotes continuous learning in the division’s engineering organization.
M. Communicates and coordinates all activities with product line marketing, plant and engineering managers.
N. Interviews, hires and trains engineers, and co-op/intern employees to develop new talent.
O. Supports and participates in the applicable UL, NEMA, and IEC standards committee.

Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor's in Engineering from an accredited university
• Minimum of 3 years experience managing people
• Minimum of 10 years experience in Communication or related technologies
Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Position Criteria:
• Strong technical understanding of communication designs (Modbus, Profibus, DeviceNet, Ethernet, etc) including wireless (eg. Bluetooth) capability
• Has experience and a solid technical understanding of communication application & design, embedded firmware design, and software design
• Experience and an understanding of the application and operation of electrical components
• Proficiency in managing people and resources to accomplish the project on schedule
• Good cross-boundary perspective to communicate and coordinate with other product line-engineering mangers and marketing managers
• Good communication skills
• Strong leadership skills
Preferred Qualifications
• Master's or Ph.D. degree preferred
