Eaton’s Circuit Protection Division is hiring a Lead Designer. The Lead Designer will be based from our Moon Township, PA facility.

We are seeking a creative problem solver with a strong mechanical design background to work as part of a dynamic global team on the research and development of industrial circuit breakers. As part of the Design Services Team you will create and optimize inventive solutions to the complex challenges of these highly mechanical devices, then document the successful designs for manufacturing.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Create robust and flexible part and assembly CAD models to support department engineering project teams. Perform 3D modeling and simulation in order to compare, evaluate and select concepts for development

  • Assist in creating, measuring and evaluating prototypes to identify and resolve design problems.

  • Design parts for molding, stamping, machining, casting, extrusion, and powder metal using standard materials. Optimize part and assembly designs for performance, manufacturability and cost.

  • Create and revise engineering drawings of parts and assemblies to support manufacturing tooling, fixtures, equipment, and the inspection of components. Create functional dimension and tolerance schemes with consideration of manufacturing process capability. Participate in print reviews.

  • Control engineering documentation and models using engineering change orders within a product data management system including CAD data vault.

  • Support production tooling and industrialization by evaluating part samples, first article inspections and analyzing deviations.

  • Provide CAD-based illustrations for presentations, manufacturing instructions, and product literature.

  • Maintain current knowledge of CAD, design/manufacturing technologies applicable to the product line and cross-train in order to share knowledge across the team.

  • Apply industry and team standards/best practices to modeling, drawing and data management in order to support global collaboration

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Associates Degree from an accredited institution.

  • 3 years of experience working in drafting/design.

  • Experience working with Pro/Engineer.

  • Legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship on an ongoing basis.

  • Relocation is not available for this position. Candidates must currently reside within a 50 mile radius of the Moon Township, PA facility.

Position Criteria:

  • CAD Modeling knowledge and experience, as well as engineering drawing skills.

  • Creative, mechanical problem solver.

  • Must understand requirements of component design for manufacture (molding, stamping, casting, machining, brazing/welding, assembly) and possess a working knowledge of tolerance stack analysis.

  • Knowledge of kinematic simulation, metrology, laboratory and shop skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors’ of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • At least 1 year of experience with Pro/Engineer Creo.

  • Experience working with Geometrical Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).

  • Experience with software to conduct FEA stress analysis.
