Job Description Eaton Aerospace Group located in Los Angeles, CA (near Glendale metro) has an opening for a Sr. Project Engineer. This position will lead an engineering team performing conceptual design, development and qualification of hydraulic valves, actuators and reservoirs for various commercial and military applications, including nose wheel steering, landing gear control, general aircraft hydraulic systems. Successful candidates will be able to independently lead a major project from initial design conception through the design phases, up to and including qualification and transition to production. The position requires the use of six sigma tools to ensure project success and may involve use of some earned value tools.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Lead teams engaged in any or all of the activities below. Provide mentorship, technical advice, and oversight to component design engineers locally and at other Eaton or vendor sites, locally and globally.
2. Estimate labor/material budgets for new and scope change proposals. Establish design-to-cost (DTC) models and track configurations to DTC compliance per company practices.
3. Establish technical work breakdown structures and budget estimates in conjunction with Program Management and Engineering Resource Managers. Manage progress to engineering task plans and schedules through the project, including variance analysis of earned value metrics as appropriate.
4. Develop appropriate allocations, and design margin strategy, of system requirements to component attributes including derived characteristics. Assist in review and refinement of system or component specifications. Develop and maintain specification compliance data throughout the product development life cycle.
5. Lead component development by identifying potential weak points, and develop solutions based on engineering judgment, inputs from Eaton experts, customer, suppliers and other engineers. Apply engineering knowledge and 3D modeling skills to develop designs compliant with internal and external standard practices.
6. Develop, execute, and manage a risk management plan including risk mitigation tasks. Solve technical problems with products and designs; drive teams to efficiently and effectively execute problem solving assignments.
7. Lead the team in utilizing six sigma tools (especially design for six sigma) to ensure that critical to quality measures are defined and tracked through the design and validation process. Conduct reviews to ensure that design variability and process capability are understood and defined in design documentation.
8. Prepare technical presentations for internal and external customers, including preliminary/critical design reviews and other reviews as required.
9. Participate in and lead meetings with the customer and other engineers, distributing the results to the development team and coordinating actions as necessary. Ensure information flow within the local Eaton team, with other Eaton sites (locally and globally), and contractor teams as appropriate to facilitate work flow, efficiency and quality of work results delivered to the customer
10. Prepare or approve SDRL documents, including analysis reports, certification reports etc.
11. Participate in the component/system qualification process in conjunction with the Eaton and outside test laboratories.
12. Perform other duties as assigned.

Position Criteria:

Ability to understand system and customer specifications, layouts and functions, and the interfaces to other platform systems.

Familiarity with manufacturing and ability to work closely with manufacturing engineers to make use of process capability data in design.

Good written, oral and presentation skills, leadership qualities and the ability to work well with customers and development team members.
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) Basic Qualifications:

- Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution is required.
- Minimum 10 years of Mechanical Engineering experience in an Aerospace, Automotive, or Medical Device environment.
- Minimum 5 years leading projects
- Must be prequalified to work on defense projects, per the state department ITAR regulations (US Citizen, Green Card, or Political Asylee).

Preferred Criteria:

- 5 years experience with aircraft component development (experience with valves, landing gear, and hydraulic components highly desired) and 3-5 years experience with project management and work in a cross-functional product team (leadership experience in this environment desired).
- Experience with CATIA/ProE, Matlab/Simulink, and stress analysis tools preferred.
- Experience with tools used for requirements flow-down / traceability (e.g. DOORS) preferred.

The Subcontract Program Manager manages, in a matrix environment, subcontractors of critical components during the development of phase of New Programs. Subcontract Program Management focuses on ensuring Program Management discipline is integrated into the Supply Chain ensuring suppliers meet the program Cost / Schedule / Performance requirements in accordance with the PROLaunch process. This role focuses on the management of the subcontractor versus the subcontract (i.e. management of the supplier versus management of PO deliverables) from Phase 0 Concept thru Phase 6 Transition to Production ensuring maximum supplier involvement from project launch through rate production.

The successful candidate will be able to do the following:

• Align the Supply Chain to meet program critical path requirements, ensuring compliance with customer flow-down requirements (offset, DFAR, quality, etc.), and ensuring success of the overall program sourcing strategy.
• Develop strong supplier relationship modeling expertise to ensure contractual requirements are met and to support growth of the business relationship between Eaton and the selected subcontractors. Position interfaces through the Program Office, ensuring smooth flow of supply chain processes and complete alignment supplier through customer.
• Manages the subcontractor to ensure timely completion of all efforts associated with the project.
• Ensures the program selects sources in accordance with the Sourcing Strategy established by the Commodity Leads.
• Ensure the supply chain process is fully engaged from RFQ through the various reviews including System Requirements, Preliminary Design, Critical Design, Test Readiness, and Production Readiness.
• Understands critical paths with the Eaton prime program (proposal stage, pending win, win, development, test, transition to production) including supplier dependencies and new program awards
• Develops and manages project plans, utilizing the Early Sourcing Work Plan (ESWP), necessary to ensure program success
• Develops, with support of program team, required Statements Of Work (SOW) and Performance Based Specifications (PBS) on which the award will be based
• Leads review of proposal response and prepares team (procurement, technical, quality) to audit potential suppliers
• Ensures compliance with applicable contract flow-downs (FAR, DFAR, TINA, etc.)
• Evaluates supplier Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and Project plan for feasibility and sufficient detail to ensure key milestones such as completion of Concept Design, Preliminary Design Review (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), Test Readiness Review (TRR), and Production Readiness Review (PRR) are scheduled and completed to the program plan
• Establishes Risk Management plan with the Program Manager and Supply base to identify and mitigate risks on a real time basis
• Technically astute to effectively interface with supplier, program office, customer, etc.
• Establishes the Supply Chain Integrated Product Team (IPT) consisting of Commodity Leads (sourcing), site buyers (Procurement), and Supplier Development Engineers (APQP), from both Eaton and the suppliers. This team conducts periodic Technical Interchange Meetings (TIM) to track progress between milestones.
• Vision (looking forward) to see total scope of Program progress and able to move the subcontractor along as necessary to keep progress moving (e.g. vision within Sourcing to detect other critical path processes that could impact subcontractor processes such as another supplier)
• Utilizes the TIM and IPT to ensure supplier utilizes best practice Design to Cost (DTC), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), and Design for Manufacture / Assembly (DFA/M) methodology to achieve best Quality / Cost / Schedule performance.

Duties and Responsbilities:

1. Lead teams engaged in any or all of the activities below. Provide mentorship, technical advice, and oversight to component design engineers locally and at other Eaton or vendor sites, locally and globally.
2. Estimate labor/material budgets for new and scope change proposals. Establish design-to-cost (DTC) models and track configurations to DTC compliance per company practices.
3. Establish technical work breakdown structures and budget estimates in conjunction with Program Management and Engineering Resource Managers. Manage progress to engineering task plans and schedules through the project, including variance analysis of earned value metrics as appropriate.
4. Develop appropriate allocations, and design margin strategy, of system requirements to component attributes including derived characteristics. Assist in review and refinement of system or component specifications. Develop and maintain specification compliance data throughout the product development life cycle.
5. Lead component development by identifying potential weak points, and develop solutions based on engineering judgment, inputs from Eaton experts, customer, suppliers and other engineers. Apply engineering knowledge and 3D modeling skills to develop designs compliant with internal and external standard practices.
6. Develop, execute, and manage a risk management plan including risk mitigation tasks. Solve technical problems with products and designs; drive teams to efficiently and effectively execute problem solving assignments.
7. Lead the team in utilizing six sigma tools (especially design for six sigma) to ensure that critical to quality measures are defined and tracked through the design and validation process. Conduct reviews to ensure that design variability and process capability are understood and defined in design documentation.
8. Prepare technical presentations for internal and external customers, including preliminary/critical design reviews and other reviews as required.
9. Participate in and lead meetings with the customer and other engineers, distributing the results to the development team and coordinating actions as necessary. Ensure information flow within the local Eaton team, with other Eaton sites (locally and globally), and contractor teams as appropriate to facilitate work flow, efficiency and quality of work results delivered to the customer
10. Prepare or approve SDRL documents, including analysis reports, certification reports etc.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Oversees and participates in the development and initiation of inspection, testing and evaluation techniques for incoming goods.

F. Serves as the team representative, focal point, and leader to all internal and external customers.

Over 50% travel may be required. The individual must be able to temporarily relocate to any global customer location for extended periods of three to six months.

1. Ability to define a hydraulic system architecture including redundancy / backup systems through trade studies that optimize system reliability, weight and cost. Implied with this skill is adequate knowledge of the following with the ability to adeptly discuss these subjects and their implications with customers:
- FAA regulations (including Advisory Circulars) and SAE Technical Standards that influence hydraulic system requirements and capabilities;

Job Description Eaton Aerospace Group located in Los Angeles, CA (near Glendale metro) has an opening for a Sr. Quality Engineer. Responsible for performing Quality Engineering duties related to support of hydraulic products fabrication, assembly, and test.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Assessing and developing internal capabilities in compliance with management, customer and agency goals and objectives.
Developing and improving system and process performance feedback using trend, Pareto and other quality tools.
Leading cross-functional teams in solving chronic system problems or product nonconformances.
Providing a customer interface with respect to quality issues.
Controlling nonconforming material in accordance with Eaton procedures.
Flowing down of external/internal quality requirements to all functions.
Performing verification and validation of new designs using compliance matrices, 1st articles, capability studies, DFMEA and PFMEA to ensure compliance to customer requirements and producibility standards.
Providing technical direction to Internal Auditors to verify compliance Eaton requirements.
Developing advanced quality planning with respect to Eaton and customer requirements. Ensuring compliance with quality requirements in product development gate review meetings.
Supporting and leading continuous improvement initiatives.
Supporting the development of test fixtures, inspection fixtures, and determination of gaging needs.
Supporting internal audit requirements in accordance with Eaton procedures.
Developing and maintaining quality work instructions and procedures.
Achieving objectives as detailed by Quality Management.

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred experience in Aerospace electromechanical or hydraulic systems required.

Experience with FRACAS and reliability reporting is a plus.
Experience in contract review, Quality Planning, failure analysis and corrective action.
Familiar with major Aerospace primes Quality System, as well as working knowledge of AS9100. Working knowledge of Six Sigma tools.
CQE preferred

Minimum of 5 years Quality Engineering experience working with quality systems.

Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Technical or Business.

Job Description Eaton Aerospace Group located in Los Angeles, CA (near Glendale metro) has an opening for a Quality Inspector. This position reports to the Quality Inspection Lead or designated authority. Responsible internally for performing dimensional inspections on hydraulic, pneumatic, electric and mechanical component parts, assemblies and sub assemblies as required. The Quality Inspector is responsible for witnessing or performing the Source Inspection (same as above) at our suppliers, when required.
Support Supplier Quality Engineering as required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform dimensional inspection on complex machined components and tooling.

• Operate Coordinate Measuring Machines during the performance of inspections (or have a strong working knowledge of CMM capability).

• Work from surface plates using complex inspection layout equipment.

• Perform both in-process and final first article inspections per AS9102

• Be responsible for review and acceptance of paperwork and documentation used in the acceptance of product.

• Initiate discrepancy reports when product is found nonconforming.


Supplier activity

• Witness and/ or Perform dimensional inspection on complex machined components and tooling at suppliers (Source Inspection), as required.
• Sign-off product as acceptable or alert of discrepancies at Eaton suppliers.
• Conduct investigation audits relating to corrective actions, investigations as directed by Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE).
• Act as a liaison for SQE to communicate and investigate supplier issues.
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) Basic Qualifications:

High School diploma required.

Minimum of five years experience in First Article Inspection per AS9102 of highly complex, close tolerance aerospace products.

Must have a valid CA drivers license.

Knowledge of Military Specifications associated with the acceptance of materials or special processing (NADCAP).

Duties and Responsibilities:

Manages the Profit and Loss of the NPD Program(s) and projects. Responsibility, Authority and Accountability (RAA) for every project scope delivery and successful execution within technical, schedule, cost and quality commitments.
Execute IPT leadership across the Program. Seeks team input to promote rapid resolution to issues. Coaches and provides feedback/rewards on performance indicators.
Supervises the Project Managers assigned to the Program. Establishes objectives and goals and provides direction to the program and project teams in areas of customer concerns, potential changes in scope and risk assessment. Facilitates the implementation of program management processes at the site, business unit or Division.
Manage effective customer communications. Improve organization responsiveness to customer requirements. Communication and manage customer expectations and contractual commitments internal to the business.
Ensure standard program management processes are utilized and adequate support to the program and project teams by coordinating PM reviews, preparing &amp; publishing PM metrics and reports.

Coordinates all risks and requirements of the program into a complete integrated entity. This is accomplished by planning, controlling, integrating all projects into the programs and measuring all elements to ensure the requirements and goals are successfully achieved.
Manage customer contract, pricing, terms and conditions and contractual flow-down through the organization. Establish and negotiate pricing strategies by system and/or product, market and by customer. Develop contract negotiation strategies. Ensure effective change management process is utilized.
Provides periodic program updates (Program Status Report – Green/Yellow/Red) of current situation relating to contractual milestones and problem/high risk areas (e.g., technical, cost, and schedule). Provides updates to the business units as well as divisional, and group levels.
Plays a key role in developing New business proposals and executing the overall program plan.
Provides overall Program interface with the customer.
Coordinates and monitors a One Eaton Aerospace program technical personnel across multiple sites.

Primary responsibility to work with the Integrated Product Team (IPT) on new hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical aerospace products and related components with relatively little guidance, support design reviews, provide technical support, analysis, guidance of design, design to cost, producibility of design, bill of materials, tooling, process planning, manufacturing, customer, contract support, and procurement. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in either mathematical or diagram form and also deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Apply technical skills for performance resolution on new hydraulic, pneumatic, and electro-mechanical aerospace products and related components with relatively little guidance: a. Design to cost (DTC), b. Standardization of similar products, c. Robustness, manufacturability and quality improvement of design.
2. Review and approve new engineering designs using the DFM methodology, which include review of standardization, capability (DFSS), capacity, producibility, ATP’s, cost analysis, lead time, capital, material and spec obsolescence, recommendation of alternate components, and engineering BOM management.
3. Compliance with ISO requirements.
4. Serve as a technical contact with internal and external customers; manufacturing, engineering, quality assurance, product support, procurement and suppliers.
5. Implement performance, cost, quality and consistency improvements in products, tooling and process during and after their design phase.
6. Analyze data from returned components and implement improvements to increase the reliability of the components, minimizing the number of returned units.

8. Be prepared to work some extended hours, when necessary, to complete a task.
