Eaton Corporation Electrical Product Engineer in Long Branch, New Jersey
Eaton’s Electrical Sector is hiring a Electrical Product Engineer. The Electrical Product Engineer will be based out of our Long Branch, NJ facility.
Position Overview :
The Electrical Product Engineer provides production support and creates and drives VA/VE and product improvement initiatives to ensure best quality and performance at the highest value. This position works closely with Manufacturing, Quality, and Supply Chain to provide production support, qualification of new suppliers and processes, and troubleshoot and resolve product issues to present recurrence in concert with Product Management.
The Electrical Product Engineer reports directly to the Engineering Manager. The position will regularly interface with all personnel in the engineering, sourcing, manufacturing, finance, product management, and compliance departments and as needed with other disciplines within Eaton as well as outside vendor resources.
Essential Responsibilities :
Sustaining engineering support to ensure existing products are maintained in production.
Troubleshoot analog and digital circuits including A/D, D/A, power supplies, embedded microcontrollers, xenon and LED devices, and piezo and loudspeaker audio devices.
Resolve product related technical and component sourcing issues and then initiate and implement design changes
Prepare project plans and schedules to assign and complete work required for sustaining and VA/VE projects
Basic Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution
Minimum 3+ years engineering work experience
Minimum 2+ working with laboratory equipment (oscilloscope, multimeters, function generators, soldering iron)
Legally authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship
No relocation is provided. Only candidates that reside within 50 miles of Long Branch, NJ will be considered
Preferred Qualifications :
Minimum 3 + years’ experience designing and releasing products in a life safety, mission critical, medical, and/or regulatory controlled environment is preferred
Minimum 3 + years’ of design experience with cost-sensitive electrical PCBA’s for mid to high volume production
Minimum 3 + years’ experience with Optical design and measurement
Minimum 3 + years’ experience with Audio amplifiers design
Minimum 3 + years’ experience with Switch mode power supply design (AC/DC and DC/DC)
Minimum 3 + years’ of design experience for EMI/EMC
DFSS (Design For Six Sigma), DFM, DFA, DFMEA experience
Well-developed written and oral communication skills
Well-developed interpersonal skills
Strong analytical problem solving skills
Proven ability to solve practical problems, develop, execute test plans and demonstrate validation
The ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, etc. forms and move project to completion
High level of computer literacy
Ability to design and create schematic drawings
Experience working in a cross functional environment
