Eaton Corporation Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly in Kings Mountain, North Carolina

Eaton’s Vehicle Group is seeking a Senior Manufacturing Engineer for the Kings Mountain, NC Facility.

Position Overview:

Eaton located in Kings Mountain, NC has a position opening for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer - Assembly. The primary purpose of this position is to design, implement, improve, and maintain the processes of Assembly of transmissions required for OEM Customers and aftermarket sales in alignment to the Assembly Department Goals. This includes research and development of new technologies and techniques and supporting new product launches.

Essential Functions:

  • Monitor, improve and maintain processes for the assembly of transmission in the Kings Mountain facility through:

  • Development of safe work methods and processes

  • Development of processes that result in a high level of quality

  • Work to improve the reliability and capability of equipment

  • The evaluation of the assembly process for waste reduction and line balancing (Lean tools: A3, Kaizen)

  • Implementation of change to Assembly through:

  • Evaluation of change notification and a quick understanding of the breadth of impact to the assembly process.

  • Project management of cross functional teams such as safety, controls, maintenance, material delivery and assemblers for process changes and necessary training.

  • Evaluate, improve and update PFMEAs per APQP guidelines, Work Instructions and Job Safety Analsyis.

  • Developing and testing improved failsafing strategies through part design, 3D printing and testing.

  • Active member of a cross functional Flow Line team to meet departmental goals and objectives.

  • Participate in capital planning, investigate equipment alternatives, prepare appropriation justifications, implement equipment, and evaluate results.

  • Participate and assist in meeting all plant Environmental Health and Safety objectives


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in engineering in a manufacturing environment.

  • Legally authorized to work in the US on an on-going basis without company sponsorship.

    Preferred Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in engineering in a manufacturing environment.

  • Working knowledge and experience manufacturing, specifically, knowledge and operation of Lean tools, assembly, blue print reading, measurement systems, and working within a structured team environment.

  • Knowledge of the financial side of the business, specifically, departmental budgets, capital planning, profit plan, and production measurement systems.

  • Design experience in ProEngineer or related CAD systems.

  • 3D printing experience.

  • Understanding of PLC related logic and controls.

  • Capability to conduct time studies and implement solutions for bottleneck improvements and line balancing.

  • Knowledge of statistical methods used to analyze process variations.

  • Knowledge of environmental laws and O.S.H.A. rules and regulation.

  • Lean Manufacturing knowledge.

  • Project Management knowledge.
