Eaton Aerospace, LLC in Jackson, MI seeks an Engineering Specialist. Duties of the Engineering Specialist include: Apply sound engineering principles and industry knowledge to lead research, design and development of new hardware products for Aerospace fluid conveyance systems as part of a multiple-integrated New Product Development team and lead the manufacturing and testing phases of development to ensure process capability and product robustness. Job duties will include: lead the development of hydraulic and fuel hose designs from conceptual phase through analytical modeling to manufacturing, testing and product qualification; develop and maintain analytical tools for conceptual design modeling of aerospace hoses; research industry materials, tools and processes to incorporate into product development to create competitive advantage in existing and future markets; structure rapid development programs combining analytical predictions with Design for Six Sigma principles to drive data-based, statistical designs of experiments which reduce cost and cycle time; establish strong industry connections through membership and involvement in industry organizations (i.e. SAE, FAA, etc.) and work with the Advanced Technology office of Eaton aerospace to align future technology; assess Voice of the Customer (VoC) and combine inputs with industry requirements to generate product level requirements that guide development; manage Technology Readiness Levels (TRL) of products and progress development through structured Gate process and planning of resources and budgets and provide input and review into Manufacturing and Commercial Readiness levels (MRL, CRL); and travel approximately 5% of time to U.S. locations.
QualificationsMaster's degree in Manufacturing Management or related and 5 years of experience as an Engineering Specialist; 5 years of engineering experience; 5 years of design and qualification experience of aerospace hydraulic and fuel products with demonstrated integration of Kevlar, PTFE or Titanium materials; 3 years of experience with hydraulic or fuel hose design including braid design & material evaluation trials; 2 years of experience leading aerospace new technology development projects from concept to testing/qualification including incorporation of a structured customer feedback process such as Voice of the Customer; 1 year of manufacturing experience coordinating prototype builds for hoses including mixing, extrusion and hose braiding techniques; and Design For Six Sigma (DFSS) Green Belt or Black Belt certification. Experience may be obtained before or after receipt of Master Degree.
In lieu of a Master's degree and 5 years of experience in each of the two 5-years of experience areas, applicant may have Bachelor degree and 7 years of experience in both of those two areas.
Position requires travel approximately 5% of time to U.S. locations.
