Eaton Corporation Service Engineer in Galesburg, Michigan
Eaton’s Vehicle Division is seeking a Service Engineer. The Service Engineer will be based out of our Galesburg, MI location.
The Service Engineer will be responsible for providing support to product development teams, communicate service requirements, and serve as the subject matter expert for the development of service support systems (service levels, service tools, product literature, and training).
Lead the definition of service requirements, product service levels, life cycle cost, and support planning for new product development.
Obtain and communicate the needs of OEMs, service end users and other functional groups to ensure voice of customer is satisfied in product design and testing.
Lead, manage and plan projects to provide necessary content for development of service support materials such as Service Manual, Troubleshooting Guides, Driver Manuals, Training Programs, etc.
Define, or participate in existing divisional Product Performance Review teams to aggressively drive product improvements and effective field strategies.
Conduct root-cause failure analysis and design and develop solutions to address failures and lead engineering partners in process of implementing solutions.
Provide support, as required, of field personnel including Call Center and RFM field personnel. Support may include technical assistance or customer visits to better understand product or customer issues.
On-going development and improvement of department processes utilizing EBS methodologies.
Direct and aid in the professional development of other service engineers and partners to achieve department objectives.
Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution.
Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now and in the future
3 years of systems engineering
Experience with vehicle engineering
Experience with electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems desired
CAN vehicle network experience, Vector tool experience such as CANape and CANalyzer
Experience with powertrain or chassis control principles and components
Experience in new product development activities
Project management skills to assess task effort, manage priorities and report status
Minimum of 1 year of experience Analytical and problem solving skills in mechanical and electrical systems
Willing to travel up to 50%
Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to use diplomacy.
System Engineering and team-lead experience is a plus.
Good knowledge of commercial vehicle service networks, Eaton commercial vehicle products, and customers (dealer, OEM, and fleet).
Familiar with data science, data analytics, and other techniques to gain insights into rich data sets.
