Job Description Primary Function:
Responsible for supervising hourly employees to deliver excellence to our customers and meet assigned deadlines. The Manufacturing Supervisor will ensure that production is managed in an efficient and safe manner, and will have interaction at all levels of the organization, including external customers. This individual will provide coaching and direction to their team (usually 25-50 direct reports), while driving accountability in the business; ultimately leading the organization to achieve its business level and strategic goals. The Manufacturing Supervisor reports directly to the Manufacturing Manager.
Primary Responsibilities/Essential Functions:
? Proactively implement, promote and maintain a safe working environment.
? Establishes and maintains an environment conducive to continuous improvement manufacturing; recommends alternatives for improving production methods, equipment, operating procedures, and working conditions. Participates in and directs problem-solving meetings and activities (i.e. incident investigations, quality concerns, etc.)
? Lead manufacturing team in achieving production schedule and exceeding customer expectations.
? Lead, coach, recognize, and motivate shop floor employees to utilize Continuous Improvement tools to exceed cost, productivity, quality, morale and delivery targets.
? Fully engage workforce and drive change by empowering business partners with decision making and involvement. Foster innovation and promote continuous learning and lean manufacturing.
? Facilitate and advise employees within the assigned department to meet value stream goals, departmental goals, and balanced scorecard objectives.
? Attain established schedules and drive work order on time completion >95%
? Drive activities to reduce past due, scrap, rework and overtime cost while meeting quality objectives.
? Drive activities to improve on-time delivery, labor utilization and productivity
? Conduct process checks within areas of responsibility and monitor performance to establish standard work formats and balance boards
? Train evaluate, coach and develop subordinates utilizing the Eaton performance management system to help them meet established objectives and improve their overall performance and competencies
? Maintain and consistently administer local policies to meet day to day operating requirements. Ensures that all regulatory standards and company policies are understood, supported, and followed on the production floor.
? Ensure that Eaton values and philosophies are integrated into the culture.
? Promotes positive employee relations and monitors the performance of employees to ensure success within the manufacturing environment, identifies and implements improvement opportunities. Proactively manages the performance of all subordinates through daily coaching and periodic written evaluations. Rewards and recognizes positive efforts of employees; implements corrective actions as appropriate. Resolves employee concerns in a positive manner, and makes fair and consistent employment-related decisions.
? Assists in interviewing and selecting candidates to fill vacant positions in manufacturing. Coordinates job training and cross-training for manufacturing personnel and provides development opportunities for employees. This includes helping to define, develop, and deliver training and development activities.
? Provides proactive communication within the designated shift and across other shifts to ensure effective coordination of resources. Responsible for creating and fostering a high-performance, business-driven team culture and environment.
Basic Qualifications (Including Educational Requirements) Basic Qualifications:
? Bachelors Degree in Business, Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering
? 1 year supervisor experience in manufacturing
Preferred Qualifications:
? Demonstrated competency in: leading, motivating, counseling, training, and evaluating employees; production scheduling; problem solving; change management; presentation and facilitation skills
? Strong interpersonal skills; excellent oral and written communication skills
? Knowledge of lean manufacturing, industrial safety, SPC, continuous improvement, and quality assurance concepts.
? Familiarity with process improvement methodologies and project management skills and applications.
? Ability to manage multiple projects and relationships simultaneously and the ability to work among competing priorities
? PC Skills: Proficiency in MS Office Applications
? Demonstrated ability and desire to be a leader
? Knowledge of process failure mode and effect analysis
? Six Sigma Knowledge preferred
? Greenbelt/Blackbelt certification is a plus
