Eaton Electrical Division North American Sales (NAS) organization located in St. Louis, MO has an opening for an Outside Sales Engineer position with some Inside Sales Engineer responsibilities.
The primary function of the Sales Engineer role is to sell assigned product lines to targeted customers in targeted market areas. This position will be responsible to achieve the assigned sales goals consistent with the expectations of a thoroughly seasoned professional sales engineer for the assigned product categories while under little supervision. It has the responsibility to manage all aspects of the customer relationship, providing sales and technical assistance with distributors, customers, end users, and specifiers. In addition, the secondary function will be to support management, outside sales engineers and internal/external customers in providing effective solutions to challenging problems involving technical, service, and commercial opportunities in the Eaton Electrical NAS Division
The Sales Engineer is to act as a technical and commercial resource to field sales, customers and distributors for quotations and project management of power distribution, power protection, and power equipment maintenance; including electrical solutions for complex custom industrial and commercial power systems applications. The role with support the needs of diverse market segments including: Commercial Construction, Industrial, renewable energy, government, military, institutional and others, as well as electrical OEM's.
Responsibilities include, but not limited to: closing orders based upon expertise developed in selling skills and technical knowledge, positioning Eaton Power Systems Division as a preferred supplier in the market and with customers, providing technical support for products/services, and negotiating & pricing industrial and construction projects. This role also sells assigned product lines to targeted customers in the designated geography with the objective of optimizing sales volume, product mix, and profit margin. The role provides technical and commercial support for distributors in addition to other duties that may be assigned by the Regional Sales Manager.
Primary responsibilities include: providing sales and technical assistance with distributors, contractors, end users and Electrical Group personnel, developing customer quotations and proposals via internal pricing tools, provide timely and accurate product and customer information for order entry, identifying and elevating quality issues to attention of management, providing market intelligence and competitor information, developing a customer preference for Eaton products and services, support distributor needs via joint sales calls, training, technical support and stock recommendations, and provide reports and surveys requested in a timely manner.
Essential job tasks include but are not limited to:
1) Review and interpret customer needs on plans and specifications. Develop and define product bills of material for customer applications, and provide timely quotations for customer opportunities. ; 2) Proactively facilitate timely support for customer issues by utilizing available resources or creating procedures for resolution; 3) Coordinate warranty and non-warranty repairs and returns, which for various shipping issues and service requests; 4) Provide technical and commercial support for for small to medium projects on as needed basis; 5) Establish and maintain the highest possible commercial relations with present and prospective customers (internal and external) by effectively employing sales and commercial skills, application engineering, product knowledge, knowledge of customers business and organizational structure, knowledge of assigned product lines, and strategic growth plans for each. 6) plan promotional events and presentations with distributor personnel to increase/improve Eaton’s sales position, 7) achieve assigned annual sales goals; and 7) prepare and present bids/ quotations to customers using company price and delivery guidelines while using sound business judgment.
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
Minimum one (1) year of experience within electrical industry
Legally authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship
Possess and maintain a valid and unrestricted driver’s license
