Eaton has an opening in our Information Technology function for a Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) IT Architect in the Information, Platform & Architecture Center of Excellence (IPACoE). No relocation is being offered for this position. If the candidate resides within 50 miles of Beachwood, Ohio, the candidate must work at that site. If the candidate resides more than 50 miles away from Beachwood, Ohio, candidate may work from a remote home office.

The SDLC Specialist’s primary responsibility is to design, construct and deliver solutions to address business and technical requirements, leveraging standard principles and patterns.

Scope: Add business value by identifying, analyzing, and proposing strategic solutions to SDLC solutions. Interface with internal IT and engineering teams across the Enterprise to determine tools, methods, and processes used in the development of software and customizations, through all lifecycle phases including Requirements, Design, Development, Test, Build and Release.

Responsibilities include development and implementation of installations, migrations, configuration and upgrade of SDLC software. Functions include communicating strategic vision, defining requirements, analysis of local and global processes, design and development of best solutions, testing and change management, deployment and audit of projects through the use of Eaton’s Project Management Methodologies. Coordinate and lead communication, tasks, and work streams associated with projects.

Evaluate, propose, and recommend alternative solutions to solve business problems in support of operational key strategies.

This position will be responsible for a diverse set of tools within SDLC including, but not limited to, IBM Rational ClearCase, ClearQuest, Rational Team Concert, DOORS, Jenkins, Atlassian tool set, Jenkins and HP ALM.

Essential functions include:

  • Involves working in a highly matrixed organization spanning domestic and international locations

  • Responsible for the implementation, configuration and performance of the shared structures and technical environments

  • Develops, communicates and deploy technology strategies and objectives for the enterprise SDLC platforms

  • Ability to access and evaluate products/vendors

  • Leverages expertise to architect, implement, customize and support the Enterprise SDLC platforms

  • Ability to drive projects with broad scope of deployment, including sector and/or region

  • Drives decisions and deliverables within team


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of IT experience in Software Development Lifecycle Tools (SDLC) is required.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.

  • This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. ITAR defines a U.S. person as a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. 'Green Card Holder'), Political Asylee, or Refugee.

Position Criteria:

  • Excellent proficiency with the English language (written and verbal). Additional language capabilities are a plus.

  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to communicate and thrive in a cross-functional environment

  • SDLC Tools Skills and Requirements:

  • Experience in implementation, patching & upgrade of Rational ClearCase & ClearQuest

  • Experience in Rational team Concert, DOORS

  • Experience in Shell scripting

  • Knowledge of Atlassian tools JIRA, Stash, Confluence is a plus

  • Knowledge of TFS, HP ALM, HP PPM (Kintana) is a plus

  • Knowledge of Jenkins is a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) concepts
