Eaton has an opening for a Manager – IT Engineering in the Infrastructure Center of Excellence (INFCOE). The Manager - IT Engineering will be based at any Eaton facility in the US. No relocation is being offered for this position. If the candidate resides within 50 miles of Beachwood, Ohio, the candidate must work at that site. If the candidate resides more than 50 miles away from Beachwood, Ohio, candidate will work from a remote site or home office.
The Manager IT Engineering is a leadership position for an organization that provides system design, standards development, oversight and management related to technologies across Eaton’s Enterprise Infrastructure. This role provides leadership and direction for infrastructure needs within Cloud, Virtualization, Automation, Server OS, Storage, Network, Voice, and Collaboration related technologies to meet business requirements. The role requires the individual to thoroughly understand a wide range of enterprise application software architectures and technologies, as well as business objectives and industry trends, to drive and ensure adherence to the overall Infrastructure architecture and strategy. The role also develops and facilitates the relationship and integration of the Infrastructure technologies with other technology teams within Infrastructure, including Support and Delivery, as well as other technologies up the stack including Database, Middleware and Application teams. This position is also responsible for the development of the organization and its direct reports.
Essential functions include, but are not limited to:
Responsible for design, implementation and management of Infrastructure technology services, through configuration standards and processes throughout the Enterprise
Provide oversight to all infrastructure technology management tools, including deployment, upgrades, maintenance and rationalization
Developing and implementing appropriate performance and protection solutions for availability and security
Drive stronger integration of key technologies, increasing capabilities, while eliminating complexity in their implementation, use, and management
Mapping key applications to their infrastructure components for reviews of performance and utilization tuning
Work closely with multiple suppliers and consultants necessary for the successful design and implementation of key Infrastructure services (Microsoft, HPE, TCS, Dell/EMC, VMWare, et al)
Identify key industry technology trends that meet business requirements (ex. Hyperconverged, Software-defined, Automation and Orchestration, Cloud Services)
Facilitate the planning and integration of industry trend solutions into the existing environment that meet business requirements
Development of new Management models for the technology (ex. As-a-Service, Agile, DevOps)
Manages expenses across multiple budgets, forecasting, tracking and reporting
Build, lead and manage a high performing team through staff development, recruiting and retention to support growing business needs
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university is required.
Minimum of 10 years of IT experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience building and leading large virtual teams managing multiple technologies.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship.
Must have in-depth IT technology experience and strong analysis and problem resolution skills
Ability to solve problems independently, quickly, and completely, and to communicate them clearly to upper management.
Ability to write proposals and technical documents and to make presentations to diverse types of audiences
Ability to effectively adapt to rapidly changing technology models and apply it to business needs
Can lead and develop team members in technical and process changes and enhancements in managing infrastructure technologies
Ability to share the value and vision with others and gain acceptance
Experience in managing a budget, making decisions on spending and cost cutting actions
Four-year degree in computer science or related field
Master’s Degree Preferred
Industry accreditations are not required but are favorable.
