Eaton Corporation Payroll Operations Manager in Brook Park, Ohio

Eaton’s North American Financial Shared Service Center is seeking a Payroll Operations Manager. The Payroll Operations Manager will be based at our Cleveland, OH facility.

Position Overview:

This leadership position is responsible for managing the day to day payroll operations and managing, coaching and developing a staff of 7 direct reports and 14 indirect reports in addition to being a liaison between payroll and Eaton locations or various corporate functions. This individual will champion the end to end payroll process and systems while maintaining compliance with all regulatory government agencies including Federal, State and Local for pay practices and tax payments / filings as well as adherence to all internal policies and procedures.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • (Manages payroll payment process to ensure timely and accurate delivery of 1M pay statements annually to 32,000 employees with payments of $2.6B (U.S.) and $103 (CAD). Monitors / develops processes to ensure the payments are made compliantly meeting all internal control requirements and federal, state and/or local legislative requirements.

  • Operates across functions such as HR, Treasury, Tax, Legal and Eaton Sites to ensure compliance with Federal, State and Local laws in addition to project implementations to support corporate functions.

  • Managing staff of 7 Direct Reports and 14 Indirect who support the payroll process and service the sites and employees in the U.S., Puerto Rico and Canada.

  • Backfill to payroll supervisory and management positions during extended absences

  • Manages key performance metrics to achieve strategic and profit plan goals. This includes analyzing trends, providing analysis, and implementing action plans to drive improvements.

  • Supports Senior Manager in preparing profit plan and billing methodology for the $6.6M Employee Process Team (EPT) budget, in addition to monthly forecasting and resource planning.

  • Responsible for all internal and/or external audits within the function as well as the annual SOX and SOD reviews, including narrative reviews and updates for the payroll, tax and time systems.

  • Responsible for Disaster Recovery Planning (DRP) including testing and documenting, in addition to maintaining the Business Continuity Plan.

  • Oversight to the payroll tax payment process to ensure timely and accurate tax payments and filings to the government agencies for 24 FEIN’s with annual tax payments of $800M. Monitors account reconciliations to ensure timely follow through of outstanding items including amended returns, refund requests, etc.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree from an accredited college or university is required.

  • Minimum 7 years' of finance/accounting experience is required.

  • Minimum 5 years' experience of in-house payroll experience is required.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience managing people is required.

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oracle systems experience.

  • Kronos Time and Labor experience.

  • Prior project management experience.

  • Experience with multi-state and multi-local payroll.

  • Experience with payroll in dealing with multiple legal entities.

  • Union payroll experience.

  • Knowledge of GAAP and other relevant accounting/auditing requirements

  • Knowledge of SOX 404 and 302 internal controls

  • Knowledge of Payroll Statutory Requirements

  • Strong PC skills (Microsoft – Project, Excel, Power Point, Word)
