Eaton Corporation Service Inside Sales Engineer in Austin, Texas

Eaton’s Electrical Engineering Services & Systems division is seeking a Service Inside Sales Engineer to be based out of our Austin or San Antonio, TX facility.

Position Overview:

This position primarily supports application and proposal needs for opportunities pertaining to Eaton’s power distribution services solutions.

Promotes product sales to existing customers and identifies potential new customers. Develops proposals, assesses customer needs in order to recommend appropriate products/services. May customize product in order to meet client requirements. Provides technical support to clients after the sale of the product, troubleshoots technical problems. May provide technical training to customers staff. Recommends product improvements to design staff in response to customer feedback.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Technical & commercial proposal writing

  • Support pricing development

  • Support proposals locally and requests from other locations

  • Occasionally work evenings or weekends to satisfy proposal due dates

  • Maintain proper communication with internal customers, including price and product feedback on both commercial and technical issues

  • When required, visit customer site to address customer needs

  • Track proposal and order hit rate activity, enabling field management and outside sales engineers to monitor for customer/channel partner effectiveness

  • Actively support Division Initiatives (Service Attachment Orders for New Equipment, power system engineering and power system automation offerings, Aftermarket Solutions, Extended Warranty Program

  • Provide technical and application assistance to Sales, Utility & Other Reps and Channel Partners

  • Provide a monthly update of proposal activities and a Monthly Report

  • Providing unique solutions beyond the standard specifications to provide greater customer value

  • Activity involved in personal professional growth and development

  • Complete twenty (20) hours of recommended Eaton University classes from training program list, including all required annual safety training

  • Participate in and contribute to the annual Training Workshop

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a technical discipline from an accredited institution or Bachelor’s degree in Business from an accredited institution with engineering/technical experience or minimum 2 years of electrical contractor estimating / proposal writing experience.

  • No relocation benefit is being offered for this position. Only candidates that currently reside within a 50 mile radius of the Austin, TX or San Antonio, TX facility will be considered.

  • Must be authorized to work in the US without company sponsorship.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Industrial Engineering from an accredited institution.

  • Minimum 1 year of hands-on field service experience and/or proposal generation experience specifically related to maintaining and modernizing electrical power distribution systems.

  • Minimum 1 year of electrical industry related application engineering and proposal development experience with additional experience in electrical power systems and/or industrial and utility substation construction.

  • Experience with proposal development in both private sector and government bids; experience with proposal development for all of Eaton's end markets (Industrial, Commercial, Healthcare, Utility, Institutional and Government).

  • Experience with government proposal procedures such as technical and price proposal separation, reps and certifications, and government evaluation factors.

  • Experience in writing and reviewing subcontractor work scopes and Subcontractor agreements; preferred experience with GSA purchasing procedures; being able to evaluate proposals for specification compliance; experience with risk evaluation and risk management.

  • Estimating experience in substation and electrical system installations.
